A few questions about minor upgrades.

1. How hard would it be to install down pipes on a 335xi?

2. New intake + downpipe, do you have to retune the ECU?

Just a few new things to extend the honeymoon stage. Suspension and jb4 will come later when the urge to upgrade returns. Thanks guys.

Welcome to the forums!

1. Depends on how mechanically inclined you are. You will likely find a step by step guide in the DIY section; with the proper tools (and patience) you can get this done in an afternoon

2. Nope. No ECU updates required.

i agree with thse second comment from above, but downpipes can be difficult to install if you dont know what you are doing. largely because of the tight space you have to work with

Thanks guys. I think I would be fine on a normal 335, but I think the x drive is going to make it a nightmare. No worries though. All I need is a lift, bandages for Stubbs where my knuckles used to be, and strong drink once I'm finished.

Personally I would do the tune before downpipe. Especially in an emissions inspection state. I did dp+jb4 the same week, and there were codes from driving with the dps before the jb4 was installed.

Not to worries about codes, bc the car is outside warranty, unless it is hurting the car.

Registered in SC? No worries as far as I know.

Registered in ATL? Potential headache as it will have codes. I'm not up on metro ATL State Inspection processes, so I'm not sure if they do OBD read. If so, it won't pass.

Here in NC, I went ahead and did JB4+DP Fix. I don't have time for headaches if they can be avoided.

Registered in SC, so no emissions test, but I might as well do jb4. Thanks for the feedback.
