Removing Performance Style Carbon Fiber Trunk Spoiler

Okay, so my 2007 BMW 335i e92 has a Performance Style Carbon Fiber Trunk Spoiler, but on the right side of the car the spoiler is damaged where there is a 3 cm gap (you can kinda see it in the picture attached). Now this spoiler wasn't put on using adhesive tape, I don't know what type of glue but it is a dark, hard glue that looks like a bitch to get off.

So has anyone else had to deal with this? My idea was to remove the spoiler and replace it with an identical one; I just don't know how to get it off without ruining my trunk (i don't care about the spoiler its going in the trash).

It could be Betalink, if it is I recommend a heat-gun and plastic razor. Betalink is a bitch to remove but some still use it, like ME, v 3M Dbl sided tape. GL

Fishing line.
You will cut the adhesive and not the paint. Dental floss will break.

Yep same here- the dealer put it on for me. I have no blessed clue how I'm going to remove it when the time comes to do so.

it sounds like its betalink...if thats the case, that shit isnt coming off. and if anyone can claim to take off a spoiler put on with betalink using a fishing line/dental floss, put it up on video and prove it. lol

Don't think you can remove that.

However, I think the spoiler will split in half if you try to pull it upwards. But if the spoiler is stronger than the paint then...lol.

I had 3m on my spoiler that looks like yours, it split in half when I was removing it. Replaced it with a perfect fitting one.

Update: turns out I'm not fucked! It is actually adhesive tape 3M (weather must have caused the section that was exposed to harden and appear like glue).
Thanks for all the help guys, this should be a very easy project now!

Heat gun and fishing line more than enough. Have someone apply heat gradually as you saw through the tape with the fishing line. Be careful not to over heat the paint. After the spoiler is taking off. apply goo gone to a cotton shirt or rag of some sort and rub off the residue from the tape. Be careful also not to use too much goo gone, that will eat through paint slowly if too much is applied. It also evaporates very quickly.

I was wondering the same thing, post a pic of the damage if it's not too bad I almost wouldn't mind paying to ship it and seeing if I can repaint/repair it.

It's an easy fit now that I found out it's only 3M adhesive. I have no idea how it was damaged, but with the new adhesive there is no gap.
Sorry not for sale sorry, I highly recommend getting this spoiler (I get lots of complements on it)
