WHEN TOO COLD TO WASH????

I'm wondering when it is too cold to wash my e90. WIth the snow theres that salt crap everywhere which is terrible for the paint, and its still cold out, still like 32f... I am wonderign what temps is it safe for me to wash my car outdoors?

I believe it will hurt you and your hands more than then car. I'd hold out for a warm-up in the upper 30s or lower 40s.

not such a big deal anymore with the automatic locks function, but in the past, you never wanted to wash your car during freezing temperature, the water would get in the door locks - freezing them up.

It's only too cold when you can't take it anymore

I washed my car outside last sunday. The place I go to thankfully supplies warm water. It was about 3 deg C. Apart from taking a bit longer and more work to dry, it wasn't so bad. Even though it was cold outside, once you're moving around you don't really notice.

OT: Why is that it always rains just after you wash it!! I just finished drying the car, get in and what do I see on the window? Little water droplets starting to collect. And today the car got properly wet with the forcast saying the weather won't let up for the next 10 days!! Oh well. Can't say clean forever I guess.

I've been washing my car at night this past month and it's been in the upper 30's.

Upper 30's.. That would be a heat wave around here right now!!! I just cleared 8" of snow off the driveway (with my trusty snow blower) to go to the store.

If you are interested in washing the car in the winter, there is QEW. It's a "rinseless" wash. Mix some with warm water, wipe it on the car with a mit, and then just dry it off (obviously you will need another bucket of water to rinse the mit in, but you get the idea). People have used this down to about 10F without much of a problem. You can use it till it gets too cold that the solution freezes on the car before you can dry it...
