I've had the LUX ones for 2 years and love them. Yes, they blink on start up because of the bulb check, but I honestly couldn't care less enough to code them out.

I got all my LEDs coded for cheap from one of the guys on the forum. As well as Alpina flash, brighter lux, auto folding mirrors when locking, amber corner led delete all for $100 bucks. Took 30 min and he came to my job. Well worth it

There aren't any LED's that won't blink during startup - due to OEM bulb check.

Only way to eliminate is to code out the Cold/Warm Bulb checks...

Good stuff man! Yea I figure if I code out the bulb check, I might never know when the bulb goes out (even if it is an LED, I suppose anything is possible.)

Well it is possible, just not feasible due to a custom designed power supply, and then it would cost too much to produce.

Glad everyone's happy with the LUX Backup lights though!

I'd just code, and then make it part of your bi-weekly/monthly routine to check. And honestly, if you're careful with coding, I THINK it's possible to code it in such a way that it will throw error if the bulb breaks the complete circuit when it dies. Because if you unplug an LCI tail light, it flashes turn signals quickly and says "rear L turn signal out, take to dealer yadayada". So there must be a combination of codes that would allow for it to perform something like a "ping" test in networking terms...just see if a flash of current makes it across to the other side.

Not possible to do what you are proposing - the bulb checks are either ON or OFF - you change the appropriate lines of code from 'aktiv' to 'nicht aktiv'

And the bulb checks already are pretty much as you describe with your 'ping' theory. System shoots a tiny current thru the circuits - as long as there is continuity - bulb is deemed OK.

Problem is, the current sent thru the system during bulb checks is small enough to NOT light an incandescent style bulb - but LED's need very little current to excite - hence the flashing. There are no coding lines to reduce the amount of current sent thru the system during bulb check AFAIK...

The LCI models that use LED's from factory use the FRM3 module - which is designed to accommodate LED's specifically - that's the reason there is no problem with the LCI cars & they behave as you state.

Problem comes when you retrofit LED's into a car that did not come with them - those cars use the FRM or FRM2 modules that were designed for incandescent style bulb systems.
