Leather Dakota vs. Black Leather Dakota
So I'm planning on ordering a 228i with MSport and I was under the impression that if I ordered the Premium package that included Dakota Leather and that black dakota leather would be no extra charge.
Now I just looked through the ordering guide more carefully and I realized that the premium package comes with leather dakota and that when you look down to black dakota leather it says that it's an extra $1,450 So my question is: Is Leather Dakota some terrible beige color and they charge $1,450 on top of that to have it in a color (black/red/brown)? Or is it that if I order M Sport with the premium package I can select the black dakota leather for no extra charge? Sorry if this is a silly question but I just wouldn't be at all surprised if it was the former given how they design the packages so that the price adds up... Thanks! They are all called Dakota, you can get Black, Terra, Oyster or Red with M Sport when you get the premium package. The package just says Dakota it doesn't specify a color. If you don't get the premium package you can order any of those 4 with M Sport for $1,450.

Wish BMW would offer Nevada leather instead of Dakota. The graining pattern is very similar, but Nevada felt more supple and luxurious. Dakota feels hard, as if it might split like construction paper. Also, Dakota doesn't shape to more aggressively contoured seats like Nevada did. Too much wrinkling and looseness. BMW should at least offer an upgrade to Nappa for every model, like Audi does. And if they want Sensatec to be considered as a viable option, they should perforate it like Mercedes does with its MB-tex.
