Low tire pressure

Recently have been having low tire pressure warnings quite a bit, is it the weather or just a common problem with run flats? Also today I had one but only for the right rear tire.

Any solutions? Nitrogen possibly?

Have you checked the pressures? Pressure drops as temps drop...

Yea I do usually check it, the fronts have more air then they need about 40 instead of the 32 the rear one was down to 20 or so.

Any one have experience with filling tires with NITROGEN?

if the temperature drops, the air also drops but if the temperate increases does air increase?

Mine went off 2 days ago and i bumped them all back to recommended pressures. They all dropped about 4 psi since it weather got colder. Reset tpms and so far so good.

It's probably the cold, as was mentioned.

Nitrogen is a useless ripoff for a road car. If you have a leak, you have a leak. Nitrogen won't "fix" it. A properly mounted and sealed tire assembly will go many months without needed any added air.

Was just one rear one down to 20, or both? If it was just one, I'd suspect a nail in the tire with a slow fiz. Keep inflated and find someone to check it out who will fix a runflat.

One tire down to 20 will definitely trip the TPMS on since the others are much higher. Temps vary wildly where I live and I've never had a TPMS go off on me for temps changes.

I get mine filled up for free. Top gear did a test where they concluded nitrogen is not that much better than air. Pissed me off since I thought nitrogen was the way to go. If you are not paying for it then it's fine

I use the 78% nitrogen formulation. If you get a TPMS warning, with runflats you really have to check the pressure in all four. You can't assume that you don't have a flat. That's what makes coding for the pressure and temp display at all four corners the most useful coding change available, at least for me.

Exactly. Nitrogen fill is marketing bs.

OP doesn't your car handle like crappie with such terrible pressures? It will understeer like a pig.

For every 10 degrees from your initial fill drop in temp your tires will decrease in approx 1lb. I noticed my warning goes off when I am down between 3-5lbs. Nitrogen is suppose to fix the issue of fluctuating, BUT not in extreme temperature changes because the temp properties of rubber vs aluminum expanding and contracting are different.

Yes it does understeer and there is always a pull to the right.

I received the low tire pressure warning again about 2 hours ago on the same right rear tire, it went down all the way to 10PSI I filled her up to about 40PSI hoping it will solve the problem.

So I went to a local autobody to have my tire checked out and I had a nail in my tire. They sealed it up and said it should be good for a while. They are asking for $275 if i need to have it replaced, including installation, I found my tire for $155 on tirerack.com.
