335d Insurance costs
Bit of a surprise today, as initial quote is double what I pay for the Audi S5 cab.
Without boring you with my driving history I am, imho, low risk, zero points, not a dodgy postcode, parked on driveway, doing 25k miles a year with business miles. Gone from just under £500 on the Audi, to just over £900 for the BMW. Now the Audi is only worth £25k max, but even so I think I need to test the market before delivery. Any 335d owners care to share? |

Age 38 Home Counties Parked on drive 25k miles inc business use No points 7 years ncd I'd change insurer! No idea why it's higher for a 335d though |

I got a rebate when transferring from a v8 audi s4 which was a nice surprise. Quotes coming in about the £400 mark, 39, me and the wife 9years ncb, Lincolnshire. I always use confused.com, saves me £100's everytime, 99% of the time my current insurer gives a better quote through them than they give for a renewal, nobs.

From the initial enquiry I made with my insurer (Hastings) it will be approx £400 for me and the wife as a named driver.
I'm 36, decent area, car parked outside on the road, class 1 business use, 9 years no claims and an excess of £200. Just about double the price I paid for the 320d.

Just done a trial quote and the best is £625.
Hope it comes down a bit by the time the car arrives in Feb. |

£320 including the wife. Protected no claims, courtesy car, business use. Excess is £200.
Not sure why your quote is so much more than your A***.

My insurance isn't due for a few months but when I got an online quote before I bought the car from my insurer it came out at £280. which was cheaper than my old e90 330d . I'm 43 with years and years of ncb and 10k a year miles, protected ncb but no hire car. Wife is on the policy too which I found in the past helped reduced it - even though she never drives the car. she never drove my last 330d.

Don't know if you came across the show on watch dog last year about bmw keys being easily replicated and cars were getting stolen.... I noticed at the time Insurance companies took the opportunity to raise bmw prices...
Since then BMW has updated the software but some insurance companies have kept their prices high so it's worth looking around.. |

Must be the post code as i think it has a massive effect on the premium. Also forgot to mention I have over 15 yearl NCD so that obviously helps.
We are luckily one of the lowest postcodes in the UK. Most of the usual suspects were coming it at similar prices. Great news that the quoted premiums are cheaper than expected. Roll on January! |

I had to use it once when I broke down in Italy, about 20 yards short of the entrance to the Mont Blanc tunnel. They sent a truck, which took me back to our apartment in Chamonix. The car required an new component directly from Germany so wasn't quickly repairable, so they then provided me with a rental car for the remainder of the holiday (An Audi A5, so a decent car at least). The car was then repaired and returned directly to my home in the UK. No way I can imagine all that happening with AA or whoever! However, in the UK, I can imagine the AA might be quicker at times |

Interesting - had a play on their website and got a quote of £475 (Age 49, 15k miles inc some business, 9+ yrs NCD, £250 voluntary excess) including NCD protection and courtesy car.
Not as good as yours but I guess my Leeds postcode is the key difference. The really interesting thing is that when I changed the car to a 330d MSport Xdrive the premium only reduced by £15 so there's very little difference there. |
