How much weight savings for CCB?

Is there a consensus for approximate weight savings there will be for CCB option? Either way, when BMW says 80kg weight savings for F8x v similarly equipped E9x, logically that would be a steel-brake equipped F8x... I would also assume the under 1500kg weight assumes CCB's...

Thoughts?

It will be a legit 40 pounds. This has been discussed and confirmed in another thread about the CCB technical manual.

The bigger question is, how much will the forged wheels weigh? I'm expecting around 24 pounds in 19".

Weight savings is cool, but I'd be impressed just for the life/heat dissipation. Still wouldn't pay an arm and a leg though

ccb r still wayy overpriced. with right type of pads, reg steel rotors do just fine even at the track for 99.99%of us . weight wise.. maybe enough to make couple tenths?. if anything itll be a show factor for people with dollar signs..

This post claims 23 kg weight savings on the F10 M5. That is 51 lb (rounding up). The brakes on the M3 will very likley be smaller (maybe smaller diameter and less thick as well) and thus less weight savings. 40 lb seems like a fairly good estimate. Keep in mind since this is spinning weight is it basically like double the amount (compared to a savings of non rotating mass). That double factor only accounts for the increased acceleration. It does not account for improved braking, nor improved handling.

IMO it is difficult to get a clear answer because it is difficult to do an apples to apples comparison. The CCB rotors options are usually larger front and rear compared to their metal counterparts and so are the calipers. When 10 to 13lb per corner are quoted as savings, is it for similarly sized discs with the same calipers or is it truly comparing one option against the other?

As Swamp2 mentions, a reduction in rotating mass has even more impact. However, if some of that mass is located farther from the center of rotation, part of the benefit gets negated.

I am eager to find out more on this topic for the F8X to make my decision.
