Safety Recall...
I'm on a business trip...but my wife just called me that we have received a defect recall letter by post recalling a series of models: 2012-2014 3 series, 5 series, X1, X3,... (mine is 2013 328i)
Seems to be a pump or something...I'll be back tomorrow to see what it is exactly.... anyone else received anything recently? |

Report Receipt Date: SEP 26, 2013
NHTSA Campaign Number: 13V454000 Component(s): SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC All Products Associated with this Recall Details 9 Associated Documents Manufacturer: BMW of North America, LLC SUMMARY: BMW of North America LLC (BMW) is recalling certain model year 2012-2014 320i, 328i, 320i xDrive, and 328i xDrive sedans; model year 2014 328i xDrive Sports Wagons; model year 2012-2013 528i and 528i xDrive sedans, model year 2013-2014 X1 sDrive28i and X1 xDrive28i vehicles and model year 2012-2014 Z4 sDrive28i roadsters. REMEDY: BMW will notify owners, and dealers will modify the vehicles to prevent insufficient vacuum pump lubrication, free of charge. The safety recall is expected to begin in November 2013. Owners may contact BMW customer relations at 1-800-525-7417 or email BMW at CustomerRelations@bmwusa.com. NOTES: Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov. |

i still have to go see if mine is the same one...
but does this mean all vehicles in the model year or they will call individuals? I've received a letter by post...I'm guessing mine is in it, right? |

reading some of the letters from BMW on safecar.gov it hints that this only affects cars with cams from a certain manufacturer and not all are affected. I am guessing it will all be by vin at some point when they eventually release it.
shaw: does your recall come up when you put your vin on BMW's web site? (bmwusa for us not sure what yours has) |
