Options you wish you ordered

After looking at my spec over and over, I can't help but think I should order a few more toys for my 335. Are there any options you guys wish you had ordered?

Apart from lane departure, assisted parking, internet and rear heated seats, I believe I ticked every box.... Was my way of coping with downsizing from a 7 series

Haven't got my car yet, but seeing as you ask, HUD. And it would have only been about £500 if I'd managed to cancel Online Entertainment in time.

A stripper, but couldn't find the code.

I would have ordered the Adaptive Lighting, everyone swears by it and I trust the judgement of the guys on this one.

No, happy with what I ordered. Just over £5300 worth of extras. That was enough for me

Only thing I wish I had ordered was the Enhanced Blue Tooth because though I previously didn't consider it as being particularly useful over the pro media, now I have it (via coding), I am using the multiple-connected-device and BT streaming a lot more than I anticipated. Although I added it via coding, I'd probably just order it if doing it again.

A mate of mine has a 335i with HUD and he says it's legendary... I'm very tempted, but I've not seen it in the flesh.

So far my spec is:

Msport+ pack
Pro media pack
Vis pack
Electric seats
Heated seats

The items I'm on the fence about are HUD, sunroof, folding/dimming mirrors and the interior comfort pack. All of them I know I can live without, but would be nice to have.

I don't think that you would like to see HUD in the flesh. He's an ugly, dirty bugger. But who am I to advise you as you know yourself best.

Anyway, Sunroof, HUD, Interior Comfort Pack, all waste of money. The folding, heated, auto dimming, external mirrors are not.

I've got the pre touchbad iDrive system (car built 22-11-2012) and it works fine with my Blackberry Bold 9700 phone. I can even connect another phone to the system and use two phones simultaneously.

Now my questions are: Have you coded in Enhanced Bluetooth yourself? Do you know anyone in London who can do this coding, please?

If you don't browse the forum much, it's probably less hassle! Because in your mind the car is complete and customised to how you want it Haha! Till you meet you someone here who says I've got that! and gets you thinking all over and doing the 'shoulda, coulda, woulda'

For me it was all about the Sun Roof, since my last 6 cars were Convertibles!

When I was in the process of ordering, I thought about HUD, but it never clicked into my mind, and honestly money was not the issue, I spent around £9k on extras. But after receiving the car, everytime I approach a speed camera and look down at the dash to see my speed, I wished I specced it. Haha

Anyway Electic seats is a must if you're used to them

The adjustable front arm rest is extremely useful. Very comfortable and different in my ways to the e9x series. I always have mine forward.

On the e9x it's split into 2 parts when you slide it forward, the driver side is raised, making your arm sit in between to un-leveled parts and very uncomfortable (and noisy)

I think the only box I didn't tick was electric seats and for the £900 it would have cost I don't miss them.

I am going from a highly specced X6 to 335d so I have had some experience on options that i would and wouldn't spec again. This is just my opinion based on experiences but I recognise we all have different needs, values and likes. Herr goes with my tuppence worth:

HUD- a must if can afford it. I have in in my X6 and it has improved considerably on the F30. TV - Waste of money hardly used it in my X6
Visibility Pack - Adaptive HL and HB assist must have
Adaptive cruise control - Great very useful but if push came to shove I could do without it
Heated Steering wheel - Fantastic On Cold mornings
Heated Front Seats - Must with Leather
Heater Rear Seats - No need as I hardly have rear seer passengers
Electric Seats - Didn't Spec again as once sets are set I never adjust again
Lumber support - I don't notice any difference all setting seem comfortable to me
Sliding armrest - Didn't get the chance to find a car with this fitted Took a punt on this MWA I am Pleased you think it is useful and adds to comfort.
Split Folding Rear seats - First trip to B&Q will prove the value of this!
Sun Roof - I still think these are a bit 1980s and that the car looks better without.
Dimming Door mirrors- awesome for night driving
Speed Limit display- Nice if you have the HUD but could do without
Comfort access - Had to have it for the foot swipe thingy!
Adaptive Dampers - I Specced it based on everyone sayings its a great option. I worry that I just get lazy and that I will just keep it set at the same level and not get the use of it.

Options I am going to miss when I PX my X6:

Universal Remote Control - Opening Garage door
Parking Aux Heater - Best Option ever for those frozen mornings no need to own an ice scraper!

Surround cameras.

Would ditch Internet and the sliding armrest in an instant.

The car on its way to us is a F31 335d MSport with the following:

Pro Media
MSport plus
Vis Pack
Interior comfort pack
Enhanced Bluetooth
HUD
Folding mirrors
Panoramic sunroof
Electric towbar
Sliding armrest
Electric memory seats plus lumbar and heating
Active Cruise
Adaptive Suspension
Variable sport steering
Reversing camera

The only things we seriously considered but decided against were Individual leather and colours.
Now that it's winter I do wonder if we should have ordered the heated steering wheel, but then I've got my eye on a M Performance wheel so decided it wasn't needed!

Others seem to like the comfort access, but I just don't see the value in it really

The only things we took a while to decide on were the VSS and towbar, and which, if any, of the various camera and driver assist type stuff to get. In the end, we thought most were pointless except the reversing camera.

If in doubt we just ordered it... not so easy justifiable if you only plan to keep the car for 2 or 3 years
