Euro 6 emission compared to US Tier II
Will a European spec diesel car that passes Euro 6 standards pass the preset US Tier II standards. I believe the US is tier 2 bin 5. Also not sure if Euro 6 cars require the same US urea after treatment.

Since the Euro standards are weighted more towards CO rather than NOx, and are expressed in grams/km, small cars with small diesel engines can pass Euro 6 without SCR/DEF systems more easily than US standards, which are (in general) more strict with NOx emissions, which have to meet the same standards that gasoline engines do. |

Thank You. Would the 6 cylinder diesel engines in Europe then have the urea after treatment that the US standards require. Where Iam going with this, could european diesel pass our EPA test and subsequently be imported.

They might be able to pass the emissions tests, but they could not be imported. There are many more differences between EU and US/CA models than emissions. For instance, the airbags (esp passenger) are different, the lights are different, EU has the CA TPMS warning system rather than in-wheel monitors and radio unit, etc.
