How do you maintain CF pieces...??
I have no experience with how to maintain CF interior pieces, hoping someone can tell me what products their using to maintain the nice gloss and black look of CF without it fading. Wondering if there is a UV protectant I can use on these pieces???

it's not really CF you're caring for, it's got a plastic coating on top of the CF.
So your basic warm water and wipe would do the trick.

I heard waxing does it good. Ask JLevi. They said if you wax regularly then it should not fade.

If you want uv protection, you could always use some 303..

any simple cleaner will do. i like to use armor all on cars that i detail, but not the shiny stuff. there is just the basic cleaner in a blue bottle, simply called armor all clean. no shine at all. works good on dash as well for that non greasy look.

Yeah its not so much about cleaning, but I want to protect the CF from fading. I'll look in the car section of our local shop for something that will protect paint from UV damage...

Carbon fiber itself can not fade, pretty much inert. You want to keep the resin used to make the part for either turning yellow or hazy. Most all carbon fiber parts sold into automotive are clear coated with the same paint used on the exterior. If the CF parts are done well, they will have UV protection in both the resin system and the clear coat which will last for a very long time with little attention.
Use a good quality wax on it regularly and you will be fine. |
