Noisy suspension

I have noticed my suspension is noisy when getting in or out of the drivers side only - any ideas?

Trying to avoid a trip to the dealer if it is just something to ignore /

I get the same every so often when getting out of the car. Nearly every BMW I've had has done this from time to time. I've had the rear suspension checked more than once on previous cars, and only once was there an actual problem (knackered top mountings). I just ignore it now.

Does it do this when you drive over speed bumps? My previous BMW did this and it was something to do with the suspension anti roll bar, it needed to be adjusted or something (not replaced anyway), but it made a creaking sound going over bumps and getting out etc... (I weigh about 15 stone by the way!). It could have been ignored but I kept noticing it when the window was down.

I asked for that I guess!

Not a lightweight, but not wildly heavy either - about 14 stone

The noise is like a squeak

Doesnt happen if I get in or out of the passenger side.

I'll book it in for a check over, hopefully like some have posted its just a noise and can be ignored.

My E91 330d used to have the creaking over speed bumps and at some odd times when driving slow. Was the front ARB inner rubber mounts. BMW fitted new bushes at about 9k miles, but the fix didn't last too long. A bit of DIY and 10 pence worth of silicon spray fixed it.

I seem to remember now that's what the service centre did to mine, I remember them mentioning silicon lubricant somewhere

Today, I went over some terrifically bad roads with humps, bumps and potholes. No noise at all. Car sailed across these in 'comfort' mode. I love M Sport Adaptive Suspenders!

I actually think it may be the rear brakes - did some testing last night, if I get in and out of the car rocking it back and forwards - it squeaks.

Rocking the car up and down - no noise.

It kinda makes sense, my driving has decreased a lot recently, going down from around 15k a year to prob around 9k, mostly short journeys - so the brakes are probably getting some rust on them.

Going to find an empty road tonight and do some enthusistic emergency stops to see if that kills it off

May be your parking brake. Try pulling it on gently, while moving along slowly (and safely), to get any corrosion off drums. Won't be the first handbrake to have a squeak or two on getting in or out of the car.
