Roof Racks with CF roof?

I know I will be flamed for even asking this question, but for the occasional time I want to transport bikes with new M3, does the CF roof have the fittings for a roof rack?

E92 M3 with CF roof had such fittings, so F80/F82 will most likely have them too.

Best regards,

If you look closely at some of the pictures of the F82 concept, you can see the little rectangular covers for the rack points (in image 41 of 254 you can see one just behind the A-pillar), similar to the ones on my e90 sedan.

Yes you will be able to fit a BMW approved bicycle rack to the new M3.

I use a roof rack for my bike on my E92M regularly. A few members on here do as we'll. No need for flame protection.

Actually, for the e90, the BMW base rack system was much cheaper than the thule or yakima tower + cross bars. i ended up w/ the BMW base rack, and thule and yakima attachments (more secure imho than the BMW bike attachments, and i've had good exp w/ them in the past)

I don't know.

It's just that generally, BMW OEM Perf stuff costs a lot more.

For example, did you know BMW's new M Perf wheels for the 3/4er cost more than a set of TE37s, or BBS CH-Rs?

Just don't buy the M bike I saw in the dealers showroom to go with your roof rack. What a rip off!!

I have a roof rack too for my snowboard but if I get the M4 I won't be taking snowboarding. But if I have an R8, Gallardo AWD, or 911 AWD I would definitely take it!

Roofbox for M3?

Does anyone know if a roofbox can be installed on the M3 carbon roof? I checked out the M3 at the local dealer and it looks like nothing can be screwed into the roof, even though it has these removable flaps. My dealer did not know and is checking with the central office, but thought someone might know or be interested in this, even though this is a very specific issue.

cheers

F80 M3? Don't know. E92 M3, yes you can put a roof box on by using BMW brackets. That picture though does not look like mine -- the threaded holes for the bolts seem to be missing.

Cheers.

Most likely you are looking at a pre-production roof. The production roof should have the bolt holes for the BMW base carrier system.

I hope to get a good look at it next week at the Philly Auto Show. I would like to have the option to put a roof rack on once in a while for travel.

Production cars should have anchors similar to the E92 roof which allow for rack towers to be mounted without damaging the roof.
