2014 Changes for 3 Series

I'm about to order via Lex for delivery first quarter of next year... and seem to have read a lot about new iDrive, launch control etc...

In simple terms what changes and when?

Thanks in advance

I think they have already been made. If you order now you will get them. From memory they include iDrive touch (touch sensitive knob) and sail mode - goes into neutral when coasting to save fuel - and an M-badge on the side if you get the msport. Probably others too but these are the ones that caught my attention. I just missed them - darn!

Other than the obvious badges how would you know you have them? Think sail mode only works in Eco mode too.

Yeah get that but I'm driving a 2014 car but don't think I've got the different iDrive, wondering if its just pro Nav?

You only get the touch controller with pro nav. You can see this using the configurator.

And in my opinion the touch pad is pointless. I like the nice chunky I drive controlee and find its quicker than the gimmicky touch pad.

the touch pad is annoying. I dint know about it at firs and i was adjusting my equalizer settings and the slider was going mental. I had a stray finger in the touch pad whilst using the I drive knob.

I wondered why no-one had mentioned launch control yet. When I test drove in September the dealer hadn't realised it was there!

So does that mean only cars delivered after February or July 2014 will have these new features?

The m sport plus pack is a great addition! I wanted all the individual parts anyway so saved me some cash by BMW putting it together. Similar to the LUX pack on my evoque which also saved me some money overall.

No probs at all. I see you have ordered a 320d so yes you do have to spec the type of auto gearbox. You can have the standard auto or the sport auto which includes the paddles on the steering wheel. I personally wouldn't have an auto without paddles after buying my evoque as it is handy to use the paddles in normal driving to override the gearbox's brain when you want to. (Keeps more of the control IMO)

I will have to check this on my order but i bet it isnt specified! not happy, this is the problem with testing a fully loaded car, id be well cheesed off with mine when I got it if it had no paddles.

Yeah you should check as its not that much extra cost wise for the sport auto over standard auto. Are you able to change spec or is it too late??

Isnt the sport auto a quicker gear change too? Isnt the standard box a big sluggish?
I'm sure its a much better box for a few hundred quid more.
