More E92 M3 MSRP Speculation...$60,750???

I know this has been discussed and covered, but the wait has been so long that I thought I'd bring this topic back up. I just did some numbers converting UK and US pricing for current cars.

I SUBMIT MY ESTIMATE IN THE US FOR THE E92 M3 AT $60,750 MSRP. OR 20% MORE.

M6 Coupe
£83,545 MSRP
vs.
$99,300 MSRP

=15,755 or 18.858% more
----------------------------------
M5 Sedan
£65,145 MSRP
vs.
$82,900 MSRP

=17,755 or 27.254% more
----------------------------------
550i Sedan
£45,745 MSRP
vs.
$58,800 MSRP

=13,055 or 28.538% more
----------------------------------
335i Coupe
£34,085 MSRP
vs.
$40,800 MSRP

=6,715 or 19.7% more
----------------------------------
Z4 M Coupe
£42,245 MSRP
vs.
$50,100 MSRP

=7,855 or 18.593% more
----------------------------------
X5 4.8SE
£50,505 MSRP
vs.
$54,500 MSRP

=3,995 or 7.91% more
----------------------------------

After looking at these numbers, we should keep in mind some basic facts.
1. The M3 Coupe currently cost £50,625 in the UK
2. The Audi RS4 cost £50,675 in the UK and $66,910 in the US

Any comments or bets, what say you????

$61k for the E92 M3 sounds right on. That's what I speculated.

Less than $60k for RS4 performance in the E92 is very unlikely.

Keep in mind the M3 comes with a bunch of stuff in the UK that won't be standard in the US. Sounds like they are shipping a fairly bare bones car here with cloth seats and all. With that, I've lowered my expectation a bit down to the $57k-$59k range.

Well if the new M3 is stripped of pretty much all options, unlike the RS4, then I guess it would be sub $60k.

After getting the leather, wheels, and basic interior components, $60k range is where it's going to be.

Interesting way, let's try with German prices:

M6 Coupe:
€ 113,500
$ 99,300
= 87.5%

M5 Sedan:
€ 92,500
$ 82,900
= 89.7%

Z4 M Coupe:
€ 57,900
$ 50,100
= 86.5%

335 Coupe:
€ 45,000
$ 40,800
= 90.7%

Following that the M3 (€ 66,650) will come in between $ 57,625 (86.5%) and $ 60,450 (90.7%)! This way your prediction were right also...

Best regards, south

Even at $57K, the car well equipped may be close to $70K depending on the cost of options such as the Premium and Tech packs, 19 inch wheels, etc.

come close? I think it will go over 70K after you add tax, title, transport fees, gas guzzler.

I think you have hit on one of the great reasons the M3 will continue to rule. The same performance for much less.

Besides, there will be twice as many M3's sold in the US than the RS4.. Supply and Demand

I am still confident in my sub 57K MSRP

Adjust those estimates to account for a much greater supply of M3's in the US and I think you come up with an even better number.

Interesting, this is a good fact to add. I hope you're right with the outcome.

You're absolutely right, it might even be 72k fully equiped but not everyone is going to max it out with options. Not everyone can afford to do that. Some that can just afford the M3 will sacrifice many of those options just so they can enjoy owning a new M3 without nav, 19"wheels, leather seats etc. Even $63 - $65k is an amazing price out the door for what you're getting.

Someone should make a poll with a friendly wager. That would be cool.

I already have a friendly wager going with Swamp. He is betting over 57K and I am betting under.

My Military Sales rep is very confident in their estimate of under 57K. My guess was correct that the US will get a very stripped down version of the M3. I am thinking somewhere around 56K. With the ZTP option the M3 comes in at 60K and if you add 19"s you are looking at the low 60's. Exactly where you would expect an RS4 rival to be that is made in greater numbers.

I think I remember seeing you writing about that on another thread. I hope you're right more than your friend but I'm going to stick with my prediction of $60,750.

I'm afraid that you're loosing this bet unless BMW decides to ask for the lowest premium of all M cars...

Depends on if you define premium as premium based on a foreign currency or premium based on M model vs. top non M model price (both USD prices). For the Z4 the US premium is 24%. If the M3 comes in at $57k that premium over the 335i in the US would be 40%.

I'd say 53K. Even that means, with 10K in options, 63K + tax = close to 70K. Yikes! GTR is looking better and better everyday.

Anyway I think this conversion based guesses may be quite accurate...
