Sensor for tyre pressures
I'm looking to make up a set of winter wheels for my MY2014 330d x-drive touring by buying a used set of alloy wheels and then having new winter tyres fitted.
As my car has the tyre pressure warning system will I need to buy a set of valves/sensors to keep using the TPWS and prevent the car throwing up errors? I have tried to search for info about this and found some countries have sensors on the valve and some use sensors in the wheel hub area to measure the rolling circumference, can anyone tell me which we use in the UK? Would also be useful if anyone who has bought sensors would be willing to share where they sourced them from and for how much. Thanks |

If your car is a UK model, it will not have the direct TPMS (sensors inside the tyres). You can also easily check as the sensors have metal valves, as opposed to plastic valves.

Hmm, that's interesting because I was also fairly sure we, in the UK, had the cheaper system but then again, all the valve caps are metal on mine (as they are on any other F30 I've noticed recently).

Have checked the wheels and have plastic valve stems not metal, dealer has since confirmed that car uses ABS sensors to detect any change in rolling circumference due to a puncture.
Thanks for your help guys |
