Gauge Pod Idea

I used to have a 2001 VW Jetta 1.8T and one of the best ideas they came up with that looked fairly oem but added a spot to put gauges was on the steering wheel. Maybe I've missed it but is there a website that has these for the e9X 3 series?

OR

IMHO I think this would look much better, cleaner, and be easier to view than the "ashtray" gauge pods that I've seen.

Since when is VW JDM?!?

You guys are right, being able to see what you're boosting while driving really is ricey. You should probably have him mount the gauge in his glove box so its directly in his line of sight while his driving WOT, right?

To the OP, unfortunately there still isn't a good gauge mounting solution for this car. Your idea would be nice and right in your line of sight, but it would also block the display that is between the speedo and the tach. I just mounted mine in a CF gauge pod on top of the vent that is to the left of the dash this way I can actually see it while i'm driving, but being able to see engine info while driving is considered "ricey" by a lot of people on here so don't take offense. I am still looking for a nicer looking mounting solution, but for now this will have to do.

well with all do respect i'm not the biggest fan of thousands of gauges but...having a boost gauge in a turbocharged vehicle is pretty necessary and very handy when trying to diagnose potential vacuum leaks. Additionally, you want to talk about rice?

^ Modifying your cigarette ashtray/installing in glove box to accomodate a gauge that is way out of sight is rediculous and that...is what I would consider "ricey"

As far as rice...my VW was far from rice...never dyno'd it but it probably would've put down in the neighborhood of 330-350whp w/ a Garrett 2871R turbo kit. Just wanted something new but, still tunable (in the 335i) due to my job change.
