Rear brake noise when turning?

So I have squealing brakes, nothing new. But when I do a slow speed turn to the right without braking at all (like in a parking lot), I can hear the rear right brake squealing very slightly... Why is the rear brake being lightly applied in a turn? Is this a known function of the stability control or something? Or maybe it's a bad bearing or something. It's a new car 500 miles on it.

I can't reproduce it on demand, it only happened 3 times in 2 weeks I think.

I saw in the manual that there is a procedure with the handbrake to reset something to do with the brakes, it wasn't very clear. I think it said to lightly apply the handbrake when coasting to reset the pads or some such nonsense. Should I do that?

Yeah do it. Can't hurt. A rubbing brake shoe sounds more like a scratching sound though. Do your brakes otherwise squeal and are you 100% certain it's the rear?

Ok I see about the procedure. Well I did it and it did nothing to cure this noise. My brakes squeal yes. I think it does come from the back but not 100% certain. It could be a number of things from what I'm reading but go tell that to the dealership. They don't care if they can't reproduce (makes sense I guess.)

Isn't this the E-Diff, Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) and Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) at work? The E-Diff brakes the inside wheel when turning, which is also DSC at work and therefore EBD.

Or that big lever in the centre? That goes all the way down when moving

I was thinking some kind of DSC related thing but at 5 mph??

True, you'd think the diff would be fully open and the car free to pivot as it would if the wheels were free.

OP, if it were me I'd start writing a log of when it happens. Be as specific as possible. Do this until you get 10 or so entries. However, don't do any analysis prove/disprove work until you get a good set of data. It could be something that requires multiple conditions for it to manifest.

Log..
-Ambient temperature and weather (raining, etc)
-Speed
-Angle of the road
-Last time the car was driven and for how long

A few things that come to mind for me are..

Center bearing - I've had these fail in the past and they can do some weird things when turning at low speed. Usually not squeaking though
Incline "helper" - engages brakes to keep car from rolling back on an incline
ASC/DTC/E-diff as mentioned above. Maybe play with these settings. There's an active thread in the autocross section that outlines what each mode does.

None of the electronic nannies that apply the brakes are active at parking lot speeds. Just take it to the dealer. I'll bet there's a stone caught in there rubbing the rotor.

The f30 parking brake plate will bend out of place rubbing the rotor and make noises
