Memory seats missing? Whaaaat?
So I just got my 328d Touring... So happy!!! Black Sapphire on Coral Red interior, M Sport, Premium & ConnectedDrive Packages. Even the steering feels perfect - I guess they modified it since the 2013's... NBT/iDrive Touch is impressive, BMW Online is such a cool gadget (watch me turn the lights on/off at home using the nav system), and the seats are great. Oh, about those seats...
First thing I noticed when stepping in is... where the hell are the memory buttons? My car's build sheet has S459A (Electric Seats with Driver Memory), but the buttons aren't there! What gives? I know everything is controlled through iDrive's profiles, but my old stripper of a E90 328i had 2 memories per key and I used them both for different driving positions. Is this a factory screwup or what? My dealer is clueless - there is a 2014 328i xDrive Touring M Sport on the showroom floor (1st month of production with satin roof rails), and that car has the memory buttons. Same options except the showroom model does not have ConnectedDrive. This is quite a head scratcher... Am I the only one with a car that can stream music from the other side of the world but does not have memory seats? I understand driver profiles kinda override this (each key apparently retains its position) but I find this odd that they removed the memory option - which is useful when you valet the car or take it in for service. Thoughts?

Are the seats in fact the right ones? Did you end up with an HPA model (a weird designation for start of production models where the packaging is different) ?
If the seats are the right spec (maybe try to compare part numbers), behave the same way as any memory seat would do, then perhaps it's a production defect and the supplier forgot to install the memory seat buttons. .. either ask for a discount and move on, or try to get the buttons installed somehow |

Memory seats is the thing that remembers your seat settings right?
Im just taking a guess but it looks like factory screw up? I just think this sort of thing shouldnt be an option should be standard on all bmws. |

Visit www.bmwvin.com and put your VIN# into the tool. Will list the options installed in car.

OK, here's the deal... the factory apparently installed the wrong part (electric seat side control panel without mem keys) even though the car has the proper option code on the build sheet. We've cross-checked other cars on the same shipment, they all have the buttons - and I've got a confirmation from BMWCA customer service that the car should have the buttons. Dealer will be contacting BMWCA about this and will retrofit the option in my car. All is well!
The computerized memory part is already in the car as the seat moves depending on which profile/key is used to unlock the car. All that is missing is the control panel with the buttons, so I believe it'll be a simple plug-and-play job.
