Eco credit on '14 X5d?

Anyone know if BMW is carrying the eco credit on with the '14s?

Thanks

no word on it yet. if there will be, it'll most likely be released in the new year.

Gotta ask this; What's an eco credit?

Pretty much ever since they launched the first diesel X5, they have automatically given people a credit of $3,500 off the MSRP on the diesel model. They used to justify it by saying that selling diesels helped them achieve the overall MPG goals for the BMW fleet that are mandated by the US government. But, at the same time, they used to set the MSRP of the diesels several thousand dollars higher than the MSRP of the equivalent gas model. For the new 2014 X5 x35d, the price gap between it and the x35i is only $1,500. So my guess is there is zero chance they will be offering the eco credit in 2014. It's possible that the need to sell more diesel X5's to meet the mpg goal has gone away given the addition to their fleet of the X1 and of more diesels on other models

Thanks. Interesting how BMW do their global pricing for essentially the same product.
In the UK the base 3dSE is £47,895 whereas the base petrol, 5iSE is £60,020.
There is no way I would consider buying petrol over diesel in the UK.
The economics of a higher list price of the petrol and much lower running costs of the oil burner make it a no-brainer.
I get an average of 34 mpg on my 3dSE so I'm happy.
Also resale values of the diesel are much higher than the petrol variant

No; that is why the price difference between the 35i and 35d is $1500. This is what my SA said to me

There appears to be a $500 credit right now based on several websites. I don't think it is an "ECO Credit". From everything I have been told my several dealers, because the pricing is in line with the gas version that chances of an ECO Credit are slim to none.

I can tell you that my order this weekend filled up the last available production slot. If the situation is the same at other dealers there is no reason for the manufacturer to offer any kind of significant incentive.

FYI - I went by that dealership today and was told that the first X5 xDrive35d in San Diego County was picked up yesterday. I guess the Dude got one of the first two slots allocated to them. Salesman said it got to them in no time, less than three weeks from order placement to delivery and pick up - Wow!
