I read this earlier. You posted the (older) 335i review. Here is the new review: 320i (your link got messed up)

I don't get it. The guy likes the base 320i more than the loaded 335i?

He likes that it's essentially a return to form for BMW. A no-frills car that isn't loaded with "unnecessary options" and maintains a 50/50 weight distribution with just enough power to enjoy the twisties.

I was at the dealership today, and my CA told me that the 320 is more popular than the 328, and the 335. He was also amazed.

Because it's the cheapest.

Most people who show up to a dealership don't want to spend $60k on an optioned out 335 X drive with every fixin. Some people just want the car that looks just like it for half the price, and that's the 320.

Especially when people show up and say "Hi I'd like the $299 a month lease?"

Not in SoCal (specifically Orange County). There are about 5,434,784,892 328's, eight 335's and two 320's.

There is a white one in my neighborhood. I also see a black one on the road periodically. Both are striped down base models.

The 320 just came out, so it makes sense that you don't see as many on the road as you see 328s.

335's a great car, but I gotta laugh at every 335 owner who chalks up 320/328 ownership to being too poor for for such a godly machine as the 335. Guess what, there's more to cars than straight line speed!

I don't think that's what anybody is saying in this thread at all. There are major price differences between the models, and some people cap how much they are willing to spend. Much in the same way that somebody will buy a 335i over an M3 (..despite the fact that they can afford either car) because there's a $7-10k price difference when comparatively optioned.

Seriously.

I was just explaining to my coworker that my car is basically the "Civic" of Orange County and I have a loaded 335i M Sport. Then again, there are at least 3 other M Sport F30s in my neighborhood where I live too.

I am probably one of them.

2nd this, and I live in yuppie-ville. I think I've seen one or two others since they came out (plus mine). Tons of 328's, and more 335's than I would have expected.

So if its the Civic of OC, then you drive the "Civic SI"?
