That sounds strange the only reason I see it not having paddles is because it's standard, is it standard?

You'll have to get a new steering wheel that's paddle shifter compatible. You can retrofit it from the forum's DIY guide if you choose to keep your current steering wheel but I wouldn't risk it if you're a novice. This is the perfect time (and excuse) to upgrade to an m-sport steering wheel! Before you ask more though:

> The wheels specific for paddle shift have cutouts & mounting points for the paddles on back side of wheel. There are (2) different variations: 'L' shaped cutouts for SSG (steptronic push/pull) paddles, & rectangular cutouts for DCT (pull) paddles.

> If your car does not currently have paddle shift - you can retrofit paddle shift. You will need:
  • The appropriate wheel for type of paddles you want (as above) wheels available include Sport (SSG), MSport (SSG), M3 (DCT), MPerformance yellow stripe (SSG), MPerformance blue stripe (DCT), & Electronic
  • The paddles you want (SSG or DCT)
  • The correct Multifunction buttons for paddle shift
  • A wiring harness from Burger MotorSports to make it work.
  • No coding needed.

> If your wheel is currently a Sport wheel as you stated - the airbag is correct & will simply transfer over, along with the front wheel trim (all though there are many choices of trim available-MSport, M3, Alcantara, aftermarket carbon fiber)

> The multifunction button modules you have do not have the pin connectors that the paddle wires plug in to. There is a way to custom wire the paddles without buying the paddle shift specific MFB, but IMO that is 'mickey mouse' better off buying the correct MFB.

My 09' did not originally have paddle shift, but did have Sport wheel. 1st I retrofitted a MSport wheel with SSG paddles (buying wheel, paddles, MFB, wire harness). Then I went to the M3 wheel with DCT extended paddles & carbon fiber Sport trim as shown below:

Currently I have the MPerformance non-electronic Alcantara blue stripe wheel with DCT extended paddles & carbon fiber MSport trim.

After the 1st install/retrofit, the other wheel swaps were quik & EZ - I can do a complete steering wheel swap in 15min now

I believe the paddles were a $100 option when ordering. In Canada anyway.

Don't bother with the DIY update. You'll use them for a day or two and then forget about them. You known you can use the shifter already. How often do you find yourself shifting manually with that? If all you're looking for the look, it's a bit expensive and potentially damaging if you don't do it correctly. Just a thought before you go through this process. There are a lot of other upgrades you could do for the price.

^^^^ Thanx!

Yeah, In my case, I actually like using the paddles over the shifter. Drive around in DS all the time

I agree there are other things to spend your money on. After you put a tune on the car you'll forget about those. Honestly I like using the shifter more than my paddles since it makes me feel like I'm actually shifting

Paddles are way better than the shifter in my opinion. You never have to take your hands off the wheel. I never use the shifter. And I have driven manual for all my previous cars.

Personally I thought the paddle shifters attached to the steering wheel was a great idea at first... After tryin to shift multiple times while turning the wheel I miss the ones that were on my Infiniti that didn't move
