window tint

Does anyone know what the stock amount of tint that the F15 comes with? Is there any tint on the front door windows? If so, is it in the glass or does it need to be removed to tint darker?

I don't think any brand new car will come with film tint applied to the windows.

I saw the new X5 in my dealer and the rear windows are very dark. I almost decided not to get the rear window shades after I saw the windows. I like privacy mainly for the kids since the nap in the car and thus darker windows help but the new X5 is very very dark in my opinion.

Yeah, the back windows are very dark indeed. I am wondering if it is possible to match the front doors with a tint that dark?

We have a Range Rover that came with window tint film on the windows. I had to have it repaired already. ha!

Interesting. Do you know if it came from the factory (that's what I meant) or was it dealer applied?

We bought the Rover used but it had the same tint that they all have, by appearance, so I assumed it came from the factory that way.

So, the manual rear window shades are not necessary?

For $250 I got the shades since I did not drive the car or saw it outside. However, the rear windows are way darker than the ones on my current 2011 X5.

^^^ it's exactly the same as the e70 with the rear tint and rear shade option. Absolutely nothing new here.

I think the rears are close to a 50% tint from the factory. I put 50% on the front windows of my moms X5 and its a very close match in darkness and color. Since 50% is pretty mutch worthless in 100+ deg heat I put 20% on all my windows to actually get some shade. This way the rears are a little darker than the fronts and its not so dark that you look like a drug dealing hoodwink.
