That new Lexus IS
VERY enticing...I if I were to be tempted by another this is it. It really is pleasing to the eye. Just too dang pricey for a japanese car and really, I'd be kicking my own ass 6 months later. I've loved BMWs since I was 14.

Not sure what you mean by "too...pricey for a japanese car...." There are many more Japanese cars that are more expensive. If this were a German or Italian car the price would be okay? |

But Civic and Accord are Hondas (known for 'keeping it simple'), and the IS is a Lexus (the luxury mark/upscale Toyota). When I priced the IS350, it was cheaper than the e90 for the way I wanted everything equipped on my 330i.
Personally, I just don't like the looks of the IS. The non-enthusiast may even mistake it for an economy car. You can't get it with a 6-speed MT, it doesn't carry the prestige IMHO, and it doesn't brake or handle as well as the Bimmer. |

Don't think much of the exterior design, though I do like the rear of the car. However, I believe the interior quality, imho, surpasses the Bavarian hotrods of recent times

The Lexus IS still priced about dead on evenly with the E90.
I think it's a great car...but I still think the BMW is a superior car, not to mention you've got scheduled maintenance on the BMW. When I get rid of my G35, I believe I'll be headed to the BMW dealership. |

The new IS is sexy in black when you see it in person.

Lexus/Toyota do produce high quality cars and they have excellent customer service as well. Unlike the BMW service I received, which is subpar. Even when I was shopping for a 330xi, the BMW dealers were riding around in their "high horse."
When I purchased my Porsche 911 4s, Acura RSX, Jeep, Lexus RX330, and Mercedes Benz S55 AMG I received excellent service from all the dealerships. Sadly to say, BMW dealership is the worst I've experienced. Maybe it's an isolated issue in Chicago, but man... those people that work at BMW dealership need to get off their horse. BMW is a great car, but just that GERMAN cars in general have reliability issues.. That is from personal experience and from reading consumer reports... Lexus/Toyota should deserve some credit for their cars. Those that think only BMW is the car they will ever own/want, is pretty narrow minded... http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do...ticleId=108456 |

I love my g35...but I've had it for a little over 3 years now and I'm looking for a change of vehicle. I'm the kind of person who just can't stand to have the same car for a while. The main reason I am leaning towards the BMW is because I don't need such a fast car like the g35. I'd rather have a car that's geared a bit more towards handling, and a little bit more refined. The g35 is a great car for the money and offers a lot of performance and decent luxury. But now I've got a little bit more money I'm willing to spend on a car, and I have always loved BMW. The other thing I like more with the BMW is, I plan on modding it and I really like the stuff the Euro tuners are putting out as opposed to the JDM stuff. I have an '03 4 door. |

Xdrive,
I agree with your sentiments about narrow-minded BMW owners. I think the "high-horse" you are talking about doesn't just apply to the dealers, but even a lot of owners on this forum. I love BMW's, and I love pretty much all cars. I feel there is a lot of arrogance from people who think they the own a BMW, they are god and have no appreciation for other makes and models. the new IS is wholly ultra ugly , the previous one is much better
because it just looks like the stupid bulky GS to me. Oosp! I should n't be replying , this thread is off the topic.

The IS looks OK..The car doesnt flow well imo. When you look at a 3 series, everything such as the side mirrors, wheels, the hoffmeister kink, headlights, wheels, etc. all seem like they were made for each other.. When i look at an IS, i get the impression that each part on the vehicle was seperately made, instead of fitting it to the big picture.

my friend's friend got a IS250 AWD. The traction control totally owned him. He can't anything but follow to the strict premature-TC to kick in.
