Will BMW's 4 series skew sales numbers to favor other manufactures?
I'm sure this has been discussed (especially at BMW) but they are losing a ton of BMW 3 series sales on paper by making all of the coupes and verts the 4 series now. This may help other manufactures marketing strategy if the 3 series is no longer the best selling luxury car in the USA. Who knows, it may still be, but it will be interesting. Sorry, just rambling.

3 and 4 series sales will be lumped together when BMW announces its sales numbers for the very reason you described above

ones who want 3 series still have 3 series in the market and others waiting will jump to 4. I don't think the sales figures really matter to BMW as long as they are reaching their goals and meeting their profit margins.
It is some gimmick that they probably don't care about. and if they do, 3 and 4 will be clumped into 1 number
