F30 build for SEMA show
Hello F30 Fans,
In the next month, we will be building a 2013 BMW 328i M Sport for the SEMA show. We will get you updates on the build as time permits. The F30 post community will have exclusive updates on the project so we would appreciate your comments and feedback. The build will be done by the pros at GoGoGear.com who have previously worked with GM, Honda, Kia and Hyundai. The theme of the car will be understated style with a female twist. The owner and driver of the car is a female enthusiast who is overseeing the project. Over the course of next month, you should see updates from the various modifications that we have planned for the car. So far we have many partners that have signed on to help with the project. The car will be unveiled publicly on November 5 in Las Vegas. Stay tuned for more pictures and updates and don't forget to also follow us on Twitter and FaceBook. Our first order of business was to install a Cobra radar detector. The GoGoGear.com Racing Team just happen to win the Nitto Tires US Touring Car Championship Cobra Top Team award for 2013 so it was only natural to go with a Cobra radar detector. Cobra recommended their brand new SPX series for this car. We went with the SPX 7800BT which has all the bells and whistles.
The SPX 7800 BT can connect with your iPhone or Android phone and give you alerts on your phone. It also allows you to join the iRadar community which let’s you know of potential problem areas. For those that live in VA or places where detectors are illegal, the SPX 7800BT is pretty much invisible to VG-2 and Spectre detector detection devices. The SPX 7800BT detects all radar bands and laser bands. It has a color LCD screen that gives you alerts with or without your iPhone hooked up. To install it, we hard wired the detector in the car. We got power from the rear view mirror area which is switched on with the ignition. It was an easy 1 hour install and the results are well worth it. The SPX 7800BT is small enough that fits really well and is hardly noticeable until you need it. |

Really big wheels add a lot of weight. Our wheel partner, Privat Wheels recommended the 19s and we agree. More on the wheels and tires later.
The next issue that we tackled was the tail lights and head lights. We took them out and had them smoked by GoGoGear.com. They applied some Oracal smoke overlay on top of the tail lights and head lights. What is nice about the Oracal material is that when the lights are off, they look very dark. As soon as you step on the brakes or turn on the headlights, they become almost invisible. They really made a big difference and gave the car a very mean appearance. |

Everytime I see people tint front headlights it reminds me of the old early 90s, late 80s GTS headlight covers
