Replacement rear guide rod - did I receive a new design or the wrong part ?? (pics)
Hi,
Due to a small incident, I supposedly bent a rear guide rod and I ordered an OEM replacement one. However, I received a part that looks radically different from the original part installed on my car, although it has the correct part number on it and the length and joints seems to be the same. The first picture depicts the new design, and the second one the current design that I have on my car. The old design seems to be "bendable" - it is "open" in the middle - the new design is not (it is open only on one side, the one pictured.). Does anyone know what is about this mistery ? And should I also replace the guide rod on the opposite wheel, given the fact that one looks more flexible than the other ? Thanks ! The new ones you received were developed for the 335is and are more rigid. I'd use those instead of oem and replace both sides.

I'd send it back and get a pair of M3 rear guide rods!

It's an interesting idea but unfortunately I can't send it back. It's not very expensive anyway, maybe I will install the M3 parts sometime soon. |
