Random HUD question

So here's the situation, I love the HUD but I hate the annoying reflection of the screen in the windshield that always seems to be directly in my line of sight.

Anyone have the same issue and/or any way to minimize the effect?

(Look directly above the HUD display in the pic)

yep you gotta love the AZ/CA sunshine! a possible solution would be to tint your windshield. maybe in that blue-ish color to reduce glare?

I have HUD and never seen that type of reflection before. It looks like part of the dash is reflecting, not the HUD display itself. I'd make sure there's no polish or oily residue left on the windshield and dash that may cause it to reflect light.

It's not the dash, it's definitely the HUD and Matt_334Ci hit the nail on the head, AZ/CA sunshine and angle of the sun plays a big part.

I know the windshield on HUD cars are different from standard f30s. It has some kind of special coating. Maybe it's defective or scratched? I've never seen that before and I drive where there's plenty of sunshine. May want to hit up the dealer. That's not right.

It actually reflects the whole dash but I get a glare from the HUD screen. Might be the angle I have it tilted to. Will play around with it and see if it changes. Also, my windows aren't tinted...yet. Wonder if that contributes

I swear it depends on the way the sun is hitting/time of year. I haven't noticed any glare in months on mine, but late spring/early summer I'd notice it sometimes.

Maybe I've gotten used to it? Not sure, seemed like I noticed it more when I first got the car under direct sunlight but not much different than when I'd notice my dash reflecting occasionally.

I'm in soFLA and we get a ton of sunshine! But mine never has any glare quite that like that! Sometimes a little but nothing terrible, depending on the angle of the sun!

I have all of my windows and my windshield tinted. I periodically see a glare but it is dependent upon the angle of the sun. The tinting may help, but not much.

Also, how the hell do you live in AZ and not tint your windows!?? I lived in Scottsdale for 4.5 years and I couldn't imagine driving without tint protection.

I couldn't/wouldn't live in AZ w/o tint. I moved back to San Diego in May and got my current 335 a month ago, just haven't had time to tint it yet

Here you can see the whole HUD screen on the windshield but not the dash (I stopped using dash cleaning products years ago due to the horrendous glare that most of them cause.)

If it was the actual HUD, the glare would be covering the display. I had the same happen once and started feeling around the edges. One of the side edges was at fault in my situation as it went away as soon as my hand covered it.

The edges are rounded and pretty shiny from the factory, so you could try dulling the finish down around the edges as a simple attempt at fixing it.

It's tough to get a good pic of it while driving but you CAN actually see the whole HUD screen sometimes, it might be because I have it turned up bright but the glare above is actually metallic in nature, it's the actual reflector

I have the same issue, but as mentioned it's most likely a dash cleaning product thats making it glare more.

It's the sun reflecting on the HUD. Happens in all latitudes.

Is it possible your dealer cleaned the dash with some high gloss products? Might be worth cleaning the dash with a wet microfiber just to make sure.

Have never seen anything close to that on mine in Florida.
