Best bang for the buck is to use the steptronic differential in the manual.

Get the ECU tuned, they'll extract that extra power to make it equal the 330i's power output, 328i: 230hp , 330i: 272 they're basicly the same engine with different tunes.

Sorry to shit on ur idea but ur not going to get any true hp and tq gains withoutany forced induction. Also with the whole exhaust, headers, ecu setup you would still only gain about 10hp on a dyno........its pointless save your money for the S/c kits that will eventually come out!!!
Also an ECU tune will NOT GAIN you 40hp on a 328i, WHAT ARE YOU SMOKING??? ^^^^^^^ |

The people who think a 328 can be easily 'chipped' to 330's hp/tq levels are the same ones that think the power of the 335 can be easily achieved by simply strapping two turbos to the engine in the 330i. And I think they believe unicorns exist too.

All kidding aside, I would just do the best mods for the buck... intake, exhaust and a differential swap. ECU upgrade is a problem as there aren't as many companies interested on anything else besides the 335... good luck.

The 330 has a three stage manifold as described elsewhere. The manifold, ECU and some exhaust diferences make the 40HP.

Yea there are more differences but not much, I was referring to the engine mainly as block and head, "basically the same engine", what you people are saying is absolutely 100% true and that is why the 330i is a bit heavier than the 328i.

The 335i has a totally different engine, its the N54, but from the 328i > 330i, they are all using N52 engines, and its doable. Do some research and you'll find that many euro tuners basically have the same power output from these cars after tuning. EDIT: Before some people start flaming again, "these cars" Im referring to cars with the same head and block and same engine code, the "N52N". |
