What's the difference in shift mapping between Sport mode and Sport shifting mode?

I'm talking about the Sport driving dynamics mode and moving the Sport Automatic tranny to the left. Forget all of the other changes that the driving modes make. What is the shifting difference between being in:
Sport/Sport+ and "D"
Sport/Sport+ and "S"
Comfort and "S"

I can't really tell the tranny difference and would like to know if the mapping iS actually different. Sport+ in D seems to do about the same thing as Comfort in "S". Granted, this is puttering around town and the occasional spirited launch and not on a track. I like being able to see what gear the car is in in "S" mode. I got used to it with my old DCT

I only drive in Sport + and what I feel is that shifts are considerably quicker in "S" than they are in "D"

I've asked this question before. I don't believe anyone has the info to definitively opine on this topic. See below.
