Any bankers on this forum?

I would assume not -- simply because the hours are extremely rigorous , etc... but just curious.

Is anybody an investment banker here? or know of any?

i do look at mortgages, but in Canada, we don't have any subprime issues, countrywide, our real estate market value is going up on average in some parts of the country in double digits in percentage, but i mainly concentrate on credit cards

i just started my job for about 4 months in the biggest bank in the country, im taking a year off school, and i am already missing it :sad0147::sad0147::sad0147:

yeah IBs def work insane hours... pretty sure you start UNDER an IB as an analyst and basically the lower in the chain you are, the more you work... youre basically their bitch... depending on the deals they have going... id say they average 10 hours a day at a minimum.... alot of potential for $$$ but the quality of life sucks depending on who you work for....

3 years analyst; if directly promoted, then 3 years associate, 3 years VP and then MD.

Analyst life blows at bulge-brackets firms. Only redeeming aspect of banking: lucrative post-banking opps with PE shops, mezz funds and hedge funds.

Starting salary for 1st-year analysts at large firms is around $65K. Year-end bonus has been typically over 1x base in the past couple of years.

i'm an analyst but not in IB. but at times our hours are comparable or worse. usually I see 9 to 8 these days

month ends are usually a lot longer.

several months back I'd work 9 to 12/1/2 fairly consistently. there was a time when i went into work at noon on a sunday, came out at 4am Monday, got home at 5am, showered, fell asleep at 6 and got up at 830 to start all over again
