stick a 2x4 through his rear window and slash his tires, then maybe he'll think about blocking you in again Or you could always stick that 2x4 in his head? LoL, i'm totally kidding. The management should enforce the parking situation, you shouldn't have to worry about stupid stuff like that. If at all possible try and do a switch w/ someone that may be in a more desireable space, if they're willing. Then again this mindless fool will become their problem.

If you already tried asking him nicely, plus the management does nothing, you're in a very tough spot.
You must be extremely political with the way you handle this situation. If I were you I'd see if you could possibly fabricate some type of a barrier that blocks him from getting too much into your spot. Maybe some type of a mesh fence bolted into the ground? Shouldn't be too expensive, but I'm sure it would be cheaper than a repaint for everytime this Jackass backs into you. And believe me, if he's the type of prick you're saying he is...this is going to go on forever....and it's not really cost effective to hire a lawyer, or any of that other crap. |

Borrow a junker like this. Back the rear end halfway into his space. Leave for three weeks.
(I feel for you. Inconsiderate people like that make me so  )

I think your beef is with management, not the neighbor. By failing to enforce the rules they have set out, your car is getting damaged.
However - most management companies are smart enough to write exculpatory language into their lease contracts specifically disclaiming any liability for damage to your car. You KNOW they will never talk to your neighbor about his parking. That's almost a given. Bottom line is, although they probably aren't legally responsible for paying for the damage to your car, you may be able to claim that they are failing to provide you with a proper parking space as per the lease terms (does lease call for a parking space?) and force them to give you another one. This may force you to look for another apartment to rent if they dont' oblige. But breaking your lease with this company penalty-free will be difficult; so you will definitely need a lawyer to help you, so there will be a cost to this. BTW your neighbor IS legally responsible for the damage to your car, if you ever wanted to take him to court. Of course you have the burden of proof of establishing that he was the actual caused of it. This requires witnesses and clear pictures - lots of them! Sorry I can't think of anything that can easily help you.

I have gotten caught up in this kind of crap before and the best thing to do is remove yourself from the situation.
Get a new spot or get a new parking lot. Deal with the management office. I'll bet your lease guarantees you a parking spot and not 7/8th of one. |

TAKE PICTURES of his car violating your space. He drives a truck for a reason, uno ? But it's always "funner" to honor assholes with their own medicine. Take the pictures to the police to make a report. Tell them that your hillbilly neighbor cant figure out how to back up and stop without using your BMW as a stop. Show them the damage, then tell them you mentioned it to him and not to worry about it, but please be careful next time. Since he hasnt been carefull have him PAY for his inability to park correctly... |
