blackline part question
i just installed my blackline taillights and one thing struck me as odd. The inner lights came with the required nut, but the outer lights did not. I had to reuse the nuts from the old lights, 3 per side.
I'm a little suspicious since the box these came in looked resealed. I got it from the dealer. Is this normal? Anyone else with blacklines encounter the same? Just in case I want to sell my OEM tail lights in the future. |

hudman - I installed my blacklines on Saturday. There weren't any nuts in any of my boxes...no hardware whatsoever! I just used the existing nuts from my old set. I purchased mine from Morristown BMW online. Does that help? Hope so.

Oh guys I'm sorry, ya mine did come with that same nut...but it has to, it's attached to the unit. It moves an inside piece of plastic inside the light. By screwing/tightening this nut, an attachment on the other end (you can't see it) moves up, or expands to pull the light into place. It's kind of hard to explain, but you'll see what I'm talking about when you remove your oem lights.
On the oem's, screw this same nut down, but not all the way. As it moves downward, the entire light loosens up, then finally comes off. THE NUT SHOULD NOT BE REMOVED ALL THE WAY!!!!! Dont forget to pop out the 2 release tabs on the outside of the light, seen here in longtrans diy (which is a must read before installation). I think I kind of butchered this explanation, but believe me you'll see what I'm talking about.
