Introducing Datazap - my free interactive data log viewing and storage service
I've been working on a little project I call Datazap - www.datazap.me
Over the past couple years I've noticed a pretty funny trend - it happens in every other thread when someone is asking for help: people post screenshots of charted data logs that have the wrong data presented, and then people have to ask them to post the raw CSV/XLSX file… and then those people have to chart the logs themselves. As of right now that process is a thing of the past. After you sign up (for free), Datazap allows you to simply upload a data log and it creates a page and generates an interactive chart for you. You can then share that URL and anyone can go in and interact with the chart themselves. For example, here's one of my data logs to play with: http://datazap.me/u/jpsimon/3rd-4th-gear-pull Here are the features for now: - Turn on/off data sets by clicking their name - Hover over the chart to view the numerical data - Click+drag to zoom in - Cap the right-side y-axis so things like off-throttle lambda data doesn't skew the chart (drag the slider on the right) - Add multiple charts to keep things less chaotic looking - Click "full screen" to see a chart in full screen mode - You can save an image of the chart (click the little file icon in the top right) - Download the raw CSV file right from the page - Share the page with specific data loaded automatically if you're too lazy to click the link above and test it out, here's a screenshot: -- Along with being able to interact with the charts, this allows you to keep track of your data logs. I personally have a hard time keeping data logs in one place…. and it's especially annoying for me to go back and find a specific one. I think this helps you keep track of things a bit better. Once you sign up, you get a page and all your uploaded logs will be listed there for future reference. For example, here's my page (with just one uploaded log): http://datazap.me/u/jpsimon -- This is a work in progress, but I think it works pretty well and hopefully you guys will all find it useful. You may run in to issues, so just post them up here and i'll try to help. I just switched hosting and email services... so fingers crossed it works!! Basically everything us BMW owners would use to log with (and any other cars Cobb supports) are supported out of the box without having to change anything with the files: - PROcede, OpenFlash, Cobb, JB4, Bavarian Technic Cable, RomRaider, EvoScan logs upload fine without any changes at all! Hope you guys like it! Last edited by jpsimon; 09-26-2013 at 04:39 PM.. |

Thanks guys! Also, feedback is of course welcome. I won't be doing big changes on the graphing end of things for a bit, for now I think it works pretty well. If you have csv's from other platforms give those a whirl too - I've learned the hard way that CSV's come in all sorts of encoding flavors, so if you run in to issues post them up and I'll try to make it work

Very cool. Great job. Hopefully this calms down the "i hate reading jb datalogs" " i hate reading procede logs"

Wow this is awesome, just made an account. Thanks for doing this for the community! My only suggestion would be to make it so people like JB4 users don't have to delete the extra text or change the file name. Maybe make it so when you upload a log you can select JB4 from a dropdown and it will automatically do all of that?

Next thing i do will make it so you don't have to delete the text from jb4 logs - like how it currently works for procede logs. There was an issue making it work the same way for jb4... i'll get it fixed sooner than later.
The file encoding issue where you have to open some up and re-save the different CSV format is not something I can fix super fast. It will require some other processing to convert it. I'll work on that after the jb4 thing - no promises on getting that to work though Last edited by jpsimon; 09-03-2013 at 09:18 PM.. |
