getting used to the power.
cars 5 weeks old with 1000 miles. Car is awesome, but Im getting so use to the power that it almost feels like its not that fast anymore. I know that doesnt sound like it makes too much sense but it feels that way a little bit.. Anyone else with the 335 feel this way? I think its like that with most fast cars.
p.s. I ment use to not used lol

lol I just posted this in another thread. When I picked up my 350z a year ago the first week of driving it was sheer terror (fun of course ) but after a while (esp. now) I wish I could just chip it like a 335 and have a whole new car all over again.
My plan for when I do get the 335, drive it until it feels slow (won't take too long since I have already had the Z prior) and then when I get bored chip it. The worst thing in the world is having a car that feels horribly slow to you. Answer, drive another car (slower) for a while. I switch out with my Wrangler for a couple days to appreciate the speed of my car all over again. |

I feel the same way. When I drove the BMW again last weekend, I was like, " Did my dad get lazy and filled it up with 87 octane?" because it felt lazy. But, when I looked at the speedometer, I was still accelerating at the insane rate as it always has.

Thats why I love the tuning abilities of this car. Drive it stock for awhile, do your work and have fun with the speed again... And as soon as its slow, detune the car and feel how "slow" it used to be.

lol its so true. I actually had my father take it on the highway to see if he felt like it was sluggish. (he drives a cls63amg), he came back and was like, "are you out of your mind, that thing is a beast"

I have the best of both worlds - I really am lucky. I have my 335, and then I have my Nissan Titan 1/2 ton truck. I switch into the Titan for a couple days every now and then, and while it's quicker than my old e46 328, it's a dog compared to the 335. When I get back in the 335, it's a rocket again.
Been thinking about dropping a blower in the Titan....might ruin my little scenario above!

Most people become acclimated to the speed of their car. Normal.

I think the computer out-thinks us too much. After I put maybe 300 leisurely highway miles on mine it seems like it is mellowed out. Then after a few peddle to the meddle blasts, the car I know and love quickly returns. Most peculiar momma.

A couple solutions... ride in the passenger seat while a friend drives it all out - I'm always shocked at the difference in perspective when you're not in control. Also, take a trip or just a few days off from the car and when you get back it feels fast again - this works even on my 330 which is much slower than the 335. I once drove my family around in a Buick for a few days while on an out of town trip; now that's a crazy difference in feel.

You can Procede it... Then in 5 more weeks it'll feel slow again... You get used to whatever you have...

I felt the same way. I am pretty content with procede 1.47 but I am sure I will smile when I take 2.0 for the first drive.
I also have a corolla for winter, etc, and I get in that a couple of times a week and then I realize how good I have it in the 335. Passing, or getting on the highway is so seamless in the 335, things I would not even be able to consider when driving the corolla. |

It's human nature. We always get used to or bored of things. I was having some crazy thoughts of trading mine in for a mini cooper s. Its insanity I tell you.

if that's the case, you should suggest swapping cars with your dad every now and then!

Exactly... One of my friends has been holding off on getting a motorcycle for this exact reason. It can get pretty dangerous if you get bored with a 650cc motorcycle.. If you get bored with it, you tend to push it to its limits and beyond...

Hmmm... I never felt the car was all that fast to begin with. But I don't feel like getting a Procede right now either. I think if I wanted a high HP car I would have probably bought an LS3 Vette. I have come to terms with the fact that I don't drive a very fast car but at least it's comfortable.

Well the car isn't slow. But it's not really fast either... I guess for what it is you can consider it to be fast? Don't Toyota Camrys and Nissan Altimas come with 300HP nowadays? Running mid 13s in the 1/4 isn't a huge deal anymore I guess, but a number of years ago that was considered quick.
Broken in motor didn't feel much faster to me. I drove it hard from day 1, the second the car got warmed up to temps. Been driving it like that since then...
