Well if it is the "regular" SLS AMG GT with 583hp, it will be a close race with a slight edge to the SLS with its lighter weight. In the Motor Trend test it trapped 124.5mph. I would think that since the non-CP M6 trapped 123.1mph...the M6 CP would give it a run for its money at any speed. Ultimately a race like this would come down to the driver in the real world...but the M6 CP would have less margin for error.

The SLS will easily outrun the M6.

How can say "Easily" when the parameters of the race were never defined (roll-race, 1/4m..etc.)? Let's use the recent Motor Trend tests of the SLS GT and M6 (non-CP) as a comparison:

http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/...pe_first_test/

http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/...gt_first_test/

The non-CP M6: 0-60: 4.0s and 1/4m: 12.1 @ 123.1mph

SLS GT: 0-60: 3.7s and 1/4m: 11.7 124.5mph

So it took the M6 8.1s to go from 60mph to 123.1mph. The SLS GT took 8.0s to go from 60-124.5 mph. Yes the SLS GT is faster but the rolling performance is alot closer than many would expect. If the competition package adds some top end power (as advertised) it would definitely close the gap a little bit. Plus if the weather is cool out... the turbo car is going to benefit much more than the N/A V8. So I can see the M6 CP being VERY competitive with the SLS GT and even beating it in certain favorable conditions.

Depending on the number of passengers - if 4, an M5 would crush the SLS, as the SLS would need to go back and forth twice!

nah.. my money would be on the sls gt.
even 2010 or 2011 sls i think would take the m6 in any race, rolling or 1/4 mile.

BTW did anyone see the trap speed of the SLS black series? 129 mph!! HOLY SHAT!

I would tend to agree, the SLS GT has the advantage but it remains to be seen just how much power the Competition Package is making in reality. If it literally is only the advertised 15hp you are probably right. If it is a bigger bump it would make things very interesting. But don't discount what mid-40 degree weather does for turbocharged motors.

Btw in 900' DA an older SLS (563hp) ran 12.049 @ 121.6mph... not exactly an invincible time.

Straight line is NOT racing

Sorry folks. Especially if its a launch control dct shift on its own just hold the steering wheel straight and put your foot on the throttle.

from my own experience during the day i had the m6 and m6 competiton for test drive i had a chance to race against an sls on the german Highways from 150kmh to 280kmh in the m6 (not competiton)

it was dead even. But this was an standard sls and not the sls gt

the Video below shows aswell an sls from 0-300 in about 35 secs..

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V2aI7KvS4pk

wonder if others had some real life experience with other outcomes, or about the same as i had

My biz partner has an SLS, crazy crazy fast. I can stay pace and barely edge with my R8GT but no way with the M5 - probably more because of the transmission but the SLS is incredibly fast once it gets traction.
