New E63 S Wagon VS M6

Great watch for those who haven't seen it yet. Will also get to see which vehicle is quicker in the 1/4 mile between the New E63 S Wagon and M6.

Doesn't matter. The GT-R is faster. All day, everyday.

DAMN! Motor Trend sure puts out some great stuff I tell ya!!!

Ok, this makes me very sad. Don't care about the GTR, we all know it's fast. I even called it before the race started.

But what really caught my attention was the Merc E63 S Wagon! It beat the M6! Damn that AWD! Although it doesn't make sense. I've seen M6's do 11.7's at the drag strip though. So hmmm....

We all could afford a gtr (m5 and m6 owners) but chose not to for one reason or more.. I had one, got bored and never went back- I drove the crap out of it and could echo alot of what Pobst said about its inability to connect with the driver as well as in the R8 and 991. The GTR is the faster car but I didnt need much skill to drive it. Even after I modded mine I still didnt care. I might get the nismo one though (if possible) one day- they say it does 0-60 in 2 seconds flat WTF!!!!!

As for the wagon vs m6:

It beat it to the line but trap speed shows the rolling power and the M6 was over 3 mph higher as they crossed. The wagon has AWD and the launch win down but we all know whats faster in a roll. Im not sure where you guys stop racing but I dont stop as soon as I hit the quarter mile mark. I dont drag race my cars so a more meaningful run for me is a roller like 60-130.

I loved my E63TT wagon but it too became expendable (non AWD 2012) even with a tune to 580 whp.

Winning is winning.
Has the M division lost its way?
I'm upset.

No matter how fast this car is, I could not live with the Mercedes MCT and their absolutely shit mbrace system. Every time I use a Mercedes mbrace interface I want to murder someone in Stuttgart.

I'm hoping the 2015 CLS63 LCI brings the new S-Class tech to the CLS and that they finally bring a getrag DCT to an AMG product other than the SLS.

Well the wagon did 11.7s quartermile. We've seen times as low as 11.5 in the m5. So I do think that the m6 wasn't launched as well. 11.7s is not enough for me to think a E63 s-AMG can outaccelerate an m5. In fact it is quite disappointing. I was expecting low 11s from the wagon.

So winning in this case is losing because why would you give up the purity of steering, and the edginess of a car which requires skill to drive, for no increase in performance whatsoever.

Forgive me, but I like my car to not only be fast, but I like it to be on the edge of controllability. A little too much throttle and my car will kill me.

AWD makes things too easy. This wagon is like driving a souped up Volvo.

The M6 and M5 is very hard to get in the 11.5-11.8, Has have just the right amount of "touch" off the line.

i like you, I like your Stir, and your M exhaust on your office wall. But, let's face it, a wagon beat our flagship. This is straight garbage.
Now I have to hear this at other message boards and at office.

My wife and I drove a 13 black edition gtr. It was boring. Still a Nissan inside. Cheap interior.

the E63 wagon is over 4700 lbs!!!

im sure at the track where/when the m5 did the 11.5, the wagon would have done an 11.2-11.3

you have to compare them under the same circumstances.

11.5's at a track where the surface is more sticky, right?

+1 on mbrace. Slow, counterintuitive and you have to pay to use it.

Right but I think there is another factor too. An AWD car is much easier to launch. Launching a RWD car requires skill. I would imagine that accounts for some of the difference too.

The difference in performance is surprisingly small considering the E S-AMG has more power and AWD.

WOW. That E63 is absolutely nuts!!! Love fast wagons!! Not that far behind on trap speed from the M6, but a rolling race would be pretty close!

Wow 123.1mph for M6 without competition paket.
If you are the red light or quarter mile racer you have to get a AWD car.
For Rolling race the M6 looks really strong to me

This many years later and the GTR is still quicker than everything. Ridiculous!

I wish they would have had the new Turbo and GT3.
