Guess: M3 / M4 Wheel Specs & Offset?

Anyone have a guess on the wheel specs for the M3/M4? Currently have a F30, going to be buying track-dedicated wheels. Would be awesome if I could get wheels that I could get to fit both cars with spacers.

I basically have the same question. I currently have an e92 M3 and will probably end up trading it at the end of next year for the new M4.

If I buy 18x10 wheels for my e92, does anyone know if they will fit on the new M4?

Thanks

19x9 and 19x10

We know they are 19 and the 20s on the concept are not seeing production. We also know that the wheels on the new car are forged so you may not need lighter wheels since you'll likely need bbs FI to be lighter. BTW please do that and post pics.

Thanks for the info. I'm guessing the 18 inch ones might be too small then.

Got it. So if I buy 18 inch wheels (for track) for my E92 M3, do you think they'll be too small for the M4? Should I consider buying 19 inch rims instead?

Good point. I guess its still too early to tell. Thanks.

Excellent point. People hear forged and automatically assume that the wheels will be light.

Anyone knows a link to a good explanation of what offset is and how it works or is important?

Can any of you guys who actually sees the new car measure the offsets on wheels and put this to rest?

Another question is about bolt size. The E9X M3 has 12x1.5 size while the F3X has 14x1.25. It is therefore likely that the F8X will also have the bigger 14mm bolts.

Would the bigger bolts fit wheels used on the E9X?

I would like to know if I can keep my Enkei NT03 track wheels for my M4

EDIT:

I just realized I have 14x1.25 bolts at home. I just need to see if they fit in my track wheels. Now the question regarding the offset still needs to be answered.

I may be wrong but I think that's actually something to do with the spacing of the bolts. I wouldn't think they would fit. Ill be pissed if I find out the P40S I sold would have fit my F82 lol.

If the thread size of the bolts are different, I don't think tires are going to fit.

How are tires and bolts thread size related

To measure offset it's best to have the wheel off the vehicle. Although it could be measured from the rim flange (see how wheel width is measured below) to the wheel mounting flange and calculate offset based on wheel width:

The offset above is 30mm.

100+40=140mm wide wheel
140/2=70mm (wheel centerline)
70-40=30mm (offset of mounting flange from centerline)

or:

100-40 = 60/2 = 30mm offset.

However, it would be far easier to use a small "dentist type mirror" and look at the offset value that is stamped or cast into the backside of one of the spokes (it's the ET number). So, if someone could do that, then you would have the exact ET/offset value

Offset is #2 in the above picture, but here shown as being stamped behind the hub cap cover.

I have never seen it on the spoke just on the hub. Does BMW put it on the spoke? Would have to take the wheel off to see it...
