because M3 is way more expensive(had one E46 M3 before) and the 330i is a 'bargain' it only needs a lsd and the M3 engine

E90s chassis is far ahead of the E46 now.

It depends for me on two things.

1. How long are you going to keep it, there will be a new M3 in ~2 years, when that hit the streets your "new" M3 will feel old where the 330i will still feel fresh.
If you're having it for 3 yrs or less = M3
If you plan to keep it for a while = 330i
2. Do you need 4 doors, if not get the M3.

The new coupe is revealing this week as rumours say, it maybe will come out in the spring with a 335 turbo engine, that might be something to consider.

if someone just gave it to me, i'd, of course, choose the M3, sell it and wait for E90 M3. otherwise, you're comparing PS2 and Xbox 360.

ok, here is my analogy written out:

E46 330i = Xbox
E46 M3 = PS2
E90 330i = Xbox 360
E90 M3 = PS3

The only E46 M3 I would consider would have to be equipped with the Comp. Pkg.

330i. Don't get me wrong. The E46M3 is a beautiful car, but I'm #1 not a track junkie, #2 not completely sold on the S54 engine lasting any lenth of time. I would guess the E46M3 will be harder to re-sell simply due to the somewhat undeserved reputation for potential bearing failure.

i'd choose 330 since M3 is going to be outdated and the new 3 has a lot more tech toys

I would get a loaded M3 with ZSP,ZPP, and NAV instead of the M3 even though it's a great car

Or you can lease a 330 and wait for the new M3...Or even wait for the 335ci?'
