Anyway, to those stating the car would have CF suspension arms, I said no way and at least in the rear, there are none. I'd be willing to bet there are also none in the front. Neither is their a composite nor even aluminum rear subframe. Anyone still betting on a sub 3400 lb car?

It also looks more like a 335i exhaust than an M5 exhaust. It is not crystal clear but the exhaust looks decidedly more one sided than two sided up in front of the diff. That leads me to believe I6 over V6. EDIT - looks like I was a little late to this particular point but I also continued this discussion here with my highlighted pics here.

Contrary to my prior post this http://f80.bimmerpost.com/goodiesfor...f/DSC02139.jpg appears to point to functional air curtains in the REAR bumper.

Also really digging what appears to be some functional aerodynamic surfacing of the trunk lid.
According to spec sheet in German Autobild it's curb weight is 1495kg or 3292lbs!!!

Also says it's inline six. Not sure how reliable the magazine's sources are?

Torque is quoted as 540Nm (398ft.lbs), 100ft.lbs more than the S65!

Thanks to Uli HH for the info

That would mean that this is just a 1M with a different body and interior lol.

It'd definitely handle better than the E92 though

If it really is only 422PS, it is dissapointing. IMO, the M4 needs at least 30PS (hp) more to remain competitive in the segment (especially at higher speeds), even with a 3300lb curb weight. I guess they are keeping room for a "performance" package option...

Some German magazines are still writing 450PS...

Anyway, the power to weight ratio would be far better than the E9x M3. The M3/M4 is more of a canyon carver than autobahn cruiser (M5). So they are probably more concerned about agility than outright top end speed. That is also reflected in the 250/280km/h speed limits (if correct). The M5 has a optional speed limit above 300km/h.

Damn!! 3,289lb curb weight is super impressive for the segment , its about 400lb less than the E92, and 660lb lighter than a RS5.

If that image posted above is correct, it would be essentially the same horsepower with +100 lb/ft of torque. And only 3,300 lbs. No mention of redline which is one thing I'm very interested in.

Looks legit. If it's true it is pretty disappointing and I will be looking elsewhere.

Disappointing? It's nearly 400lb less than the e90, which gives it a far superior power to weight ratio than the e90, and the torque to weight ratio ( if that exists) is better than the F10 M5's.

I'm not comparing to my E90 I'm comparing to what the competition will have available at the time of this release.

It's still speculation obviously. I speculate that this car will murder its direct competition.

Which is what? And don't say the C7 because that's playing with 991S'. If those specs are true and it comes out to 3300lbs, that'll be incredible. Not to mention BMW is usually very conservative when they rate HP and tq.

Don't know how accurate this is, but I looked up a a Car and Driver article and it stated that the other car I'm interested in, a 997.1 Turbo weighs 3400 lbs. Of course we don't know how the weight is measured, but I still think if BMW managed to lose 400 lbs, that's mighty impressive.

the new c7 might be playing with the Porsche but it will cost around 60 k so he was probably saying money wise

I thought they were closer to 70k with all the toys? But either way, there's no denying the C7 will be a monster. I'm just saying it mops everything on the floor, not just the M4. Kind of like what GT-R's did to the competition when they were released.

Why we comparing this car to a c7? Two TOTALLY DIFFERENT CARS.

I'm ok with 430hp and a weight of 329x pounds. Atleast BMW gives us a really good weight to work it. Add a titanium exhaust and lose another 40 pounds or so. I think this car will be a beast! 3250 pounds w exhaust... Add a tune and down pipes and you'll be at 550-600hp in no time! BMW set the foundation up really well for us all.

looks like 3300lb (fantastic) 416hp and 398tq. As long as the m4 will look like this in production form I am on "shut up and take my money" bandwagon.

A little less hp as I would like but as long as weight is 3300 I am alright. Fantastic looking car. Also as post above mentioned, BMW lets bring M4 CG.

BMW M4 waiting for M3 ...

The C7 argument confuses me. How often are a C2/4S, an M3/4 and a C7 expected to be cross shopped?

To me, the only direct competition in the is the AMG C with the CTS-V and RS a close second. Even then, if you want an M, you'll likely get an M. Just like if you really want an AMG, you'll likely get an AMG.

...now BMW just needs to make sure a puny little I6 will run with the big boys . Considering the S65 started design a decade ago and still incorporated nearly every now-modern trick except direct injection, I continue to have faith in our boys in Munich.
