M Sport Steering Wheel - Perforated Leather vs. M Stitching
Hey guys,
I want to upgrade my steering wheel but don't know which one to go with. I did a search and could only find comparisons to stock. Has anyone felt/tried both? Are they about the same thickness? Which do you prefer and why? It looks like the Perforated one isn't as padded...am I correct? Thanks in advance. |

There both the same size in thickness just ones perforated and the other isn't with colored stiching. I am pretty sure there actually the exact same wheel with different material. I went with the perforated wheel to match my M Sport shifter and e-brake.

Perforated Leather == M-Sport
M Stitching == M3 They're from two different cars, not different flavors of M-Sport Yes, we all knew what you meant, but damn it, this is a car geek forum. Technically correct is the best kind of correct (now watch somebody point out that I'm wrong and revoke my geek card. I guess it's a risk I'll have to take ) |

Someone had asked this question in the M Sport Wheel DYI which I read awhile ago and stated it was the same thickness. Post #382 for reference. There's some back to back pictures between the two wheels as well which is nice. http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...eering&page=18 Last edited by ohsnap; 10-04-2007 at 11:56 PM.. |

The m3 one feels 100 times better. Thicker and softer. But it will not fit an auto with paddles

Does anyone know if the perforated one is padded? I kind of like the all black look of the perforated one but I know the M one feels really good. |

Yeah, just bought the tri-colored one form the guy on Ebay. Very nice and quick shipment. It was $265 with $45 shipping. I got it about 5 days after I sent payment. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=320159864464 I followed the DIY on here. It only took me 30 minutes. Very easy install |

The M Logo is on a seperate cover/part. Pretty sure you can use your existing cover if you already have the oem sport wheel with the tri-stich wheel. I know this is the case with the perforated one. Check out that DYI on it. There is a ton of info and pictures.

Pre-Oct-06 ZSP Wheel - thinnest Oct-06 ZSP Wheel (with tumb rests) M-Sport M3 - thickest I'm aiming for the M-Sport because it matches my M-Sport shifter and it's a real option for my car ("M LEATHER STEERING WHEEL S710A" for the perf leather controls with is part of the M-Sport package) so it seems less poser-ey Also, for some reason, perf leather just seems more sporty to me. Maybe they're speed holes |

I prefer the perf M-sport. I think it boils down to personal preference, kind of like how squishy you like your main squeeze. No slipping with perf, and it's cooler in summer.
