Off to Infineon/Sears Point tomorrow for a 2-day event...

Hopefully I will not get those 280 degree oil temps...changing my oil to the 5-60W BMW Motorsport synthetic today..and bleeding my brakes with Motul RBF600 again.

Should be fun...gonna try to shoot some footage this time..although my mini-DV wont be too internet friendly...I will use my new digital camera for a lap..it creates mpegs.

I see you go the track often. Is there a website or somewhere I can join? I'm looking into tracking my car sometime but not sure where to start. Is NASA any good?

I think NASA is good. NCRC is also good (my preference). I tracked with NCRC briefly in my S4 but couldn't spare enough time for it. Great group to run with though and I had a cool instructor. I think S4to335 is an instructor too actually.

EDIT: Steve, could you post later about your experience with the 5W60. Seems a little thick but possibly a good "track" oil. Geez..... talking about going to different oil just for tracking now, this heat problem is a PITA. Are you going to use that weight for day to day as well?

You should try downloading autogk. It compresses files to xvid and you can preset it to 320x240, so it looks decent on youtube.

I'll try to hit Sears Point some time next year, it's a track I've always wanted to try.

I had 55 cars on track with me at Sear Point last year in Group 4 (with all the race cars..)..that was nutz for a 2.3 mile track ..and I was in a street car.

I also teach for NCRC...(last event was Thunderhill last Friday)..I REALLY like their events..but they are not for newbies...it is for people who have been to track events before...it is more expensive..but it is worth it since you get more track time...you can run in other groups lots of times..I ran in point-by and open passing groups (passing even in corners - anywhere...anytime).

Let me look for a link to events..there use to be one on Pukkasoft...
That'd be great. I used to autocross in LA, but never really been to an actual track. I'm sure it's alot different and would like to get into it more if i could. Any guidance for a noob track guy would help alot!

Steve - for the DV, it should be fine. Just download it using Windows Movie Maker and you can compress it to minute size if you want.

I'm also headed on track - with PROcede V 2.0
