Voltage issues in my 2006 325i E90
So a few weeks ago I had my ABS lights go on and I noticed that my dash light would dim at certain points, at this point I was on my way to work then All my lights came on, trans warning light, seatbelt warning light and soon after that the battery light. I took it to a relative who went to school for Bosch and he goes to different dealerships to help with computer problems etc. after he hooked my car up to his computer I had 16 codes that were coming up and just about everyone had to do with voltage being low, voltage being to high etc. at the lowest it was 11.7 at the highest it was 15.4v. Just wondering if anyone has had similar problems, I think possibly alternator or regulator which is built into the alternator.
I dropped it off at the dealership on Saturday but I probably won't hear anything until Monday or tues. Just wondering what everyone's take us on this and if anyone had simular issues Thanks for any replies |

Could also be the IBS. And if it's on the original battery, it may also be time to replace that.
Hope they get it sorted out quickly and painlessly. Tom |

Hey everyone, Just wanted to give you all an update on my car, I took it to Devon Hill BMW for the voltage issue, after the tech looked at it the Battery was fine, the IBS was fine but the alternator was the issue, not sure if it was the regulator but the replaced the Alternator (Thank god it was under warranty), Well went to pick it up today and drove it off the lot, half of the radio lights were out and it wasn't like that when I took it in there. So I turned around and took it back, they took a look at it, they said it was probably bad timing and the radio went but there was also the possibility that something shorted out when they replaced the alt. but anyways, whether it was the Stereo just going bad or if it was something they did, the service manager said they are going to replace it at no cost, might be a used one but it will be in like new condition (I am Happy with that).
I dont know if any of you have used Devon Hill BMW but I can't say enough good things about them and the Service dept. |
