Warning indicator

I have a warning icon light up on my car (2007 328xi coupe) that shows a light bulb with an exclamation mark in the center. I looked it up in the manual and it indicates that an external light has burned out.
Ok, the problem is that none of my lights are burned out, but the warning indicator continues to show up.
Any ideas why (a short or something?) it keeps coming on? Also is there a way I can reset the computer to maybe keep it from coming on?
Any help would be appreciated.

Did you check you driving lights and side markers?

go through the check on your stalk. when you get the error, hold down the BC button. should give you a cid number. search the number. its common for this to happen with the tail lights.

Happened to me last week. Pushed in the BC stalk and it showed CC-ID 134 (RR brake lamp). This used to happen with my E36. Popped out the holder, pulled out all the bulbs, they looked ok, cleaned all connectors in the holder with an emory board, reinsterted all bulbs, no more warning bulb with exclamation point! I ordered all new bulbs off Ebay, just in case. The bulb holder, sometimes a problem, can be had for about $17.

Either a bulb has failed or it on it's way.use method mentioned above with the BC stalk to pin point where to look for affected lamp(s). Good luck.

When I encountered that, it was due to a reverse travel indicator light. It is also possible that you have a loose bulb or connector.

I once got that warning you noted and did nothing about it and it went away.

This happened to me twice. Once it was a turning light (the innermost of the two bulbs in the headlight) and once it was one of the bulbs in the tail light that couldn't really be seen.

I know this is an E90 forum, but I had an E46 2002 325 XI which in its later life would show a lamp in my right rear having a problem. I inspected and tested the lamps - all were OK, but the diagnostic would still appear. I cleaned the connectors - the diagnostic would still appear. I replaced the housing for the lamps - the diagnostic would still appear. My success? I turned on my headlights. After approximately 15 seconds, I could turn off the headlights and the diagnostic would go away.
I never figured out why it behaved that way and it was not consistent. Sometimes the diagnostic would not appear for several weeks. But when it did, turning on the headlights for a few seconds made the diagnostic go away.

I've had this warning light for like 3 months now. Too lazy to fix it. Mines the "left cornering light malfunction" and all my lights work too.

This may sound stupid, but when you say BC button do you mean the button on the end of the stock?

This happens with the BFD light quite often, and the older e9x chassic vehicles did have a problem with the bulb holders for the tailights. I tightened my holders up using needle nose pliers and a pick when this happened to me. All has been well now for over a year since it happened

This sounds helpful. How do you access the taillights? And are the bulb holders in the rear fender or the trunk lid? Or both? I looked but there are covers on the fender lights and I have no idea how to access the lights on the trunk lid.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

I also want to add that the code that comes up is:

CC-ID 134

Any idea what that means?

The error typically occurs with the fender side, so no need to check the trunk mounted lights. Code 134 is for a right brake light failure

Keep in mind that all E90s have secondary hard braking lights that are mounted on the trunk left and right, these will not activate unless the ABS is triggered from hard braking. Hard trunk slammers have experienced loose bulb connections in the past. The lights are monitored by a wire resistive valve, an open, a short or the wrong resistive range.

CLick->The BMW WDS might help

The OP has an e92 like me. The BFD bulbs are also in the fender which is why I said no need to check the trunk. Both bulbs in question are in the fender mounted light
