Dealer worker hits my car...What can i do?

I took my 2011 e92 coupe in for an oil change and a full detail last friday. It was done yesturday however..........The service adviser called me and told me that he had accidentally damaged my front right rim. He said he is going to get it fixed and that he is going to repaint the entire rim. To his knowledge, he says it will match the other 3 rims on the car. These rims were painted black exactly 25 months ago which was when i got the car. To my knowledge, i do not think the rims will match.

What do you guys think? And also can i force him or suggest to paint all 4 since he fucked up and is keeping my car for 7 days instead of 2? I was thinking when i go to pick up the car and see that it does not match i will suggest him to paint the other 3 since they do not match anymore.......im just not sure if i can do that since he already is fixing the rim he had hit.

I would just trade the car in to be honest.

I would raise hell if I was you. Yes demand all four rims be painted, as well as a sweet loaner for the time without your car. My two cents...

Well he already gave me a 2013 328i sedan as a loaner and he said to keep it until the rim is fixed. I still have 11 more payments until the lease is over. I highly doubt they can paint one rim and make it match with the other rims in color. Especially since the rims were painted glossy black 2 years ago

If the shop is decent they could probably get a close match, plus it's not like wheels are right next to each other or have to blend in as let's say a fender. So far looks like they are fixing their mistake, so why not wait and see.

Well its at the dealers shop so i dont think they will fuck up its just i had my rims painted with a gun and i think they are going to power coat it and then dip it in otherwise why would they say its going to take 4 days? I know for sure when you use a gun or can to paint the rims compared to a power coat, dipping, then baking the color will look different.....it will look more smoother. I already told them if i come there and the color doesnt match we will have a problem lol.

Ask them if they can do extra 3 wheels, if not then how much would it be as it is their fault afterwards. I think the reason they need 4 days is that most likely they will send wheel somewhere else to get reconditioned / refinished and then maybe paint back at the dealer.

I agree that the 4 days is likely because they're outsourcing the work to a repair facility the specializes in wheel repair (they may even be shipping it out of state to have the work done). I'd simply let them know you're extremely particular and if there is even a miniscule mismatch that you want the other 3 wheels refinished to match. If all four wheels matched prior to damage, then it is their responsibility to make sure all four match after the repair, even if only one wheel was damaged.

Did u see the damage? I had a dealer do something like this. Turned out the damage was more significant that's why it took longer to fix. Just FYI.

Wait until you see the fixed wheel before you raise hell. You may want to use this dealer in the future. BTW...shit happens and at least he told you.

This made my day, I just spit coffee out over a bunch of work documents

OP get real, they owned up to the problem and are fixing it for free. I'd be annoyed too but life happens

I had my car in for service, and my front bumper got hit. They had my car for 6 weeks. I ended up getting a m-sport bumper upgrade for free. My best advice to you is to try and get what you want out of them. If the advisor says no talk to the service manager. If the service manager says no talk to the general manager.

I would just take the car, file a claim, and submit the estimate to the SA's insurance. Well, unless a replacement isn't an option .. I would think you have the right to specify how you want the issue addressed - ie replace instead of repair. Good luck

Give them a change to fix it, Front right rim so it's probably some curb rash. Wheel repair guy will fill and spot paint it then clear the entire wheel, you wont see anything.

^^^This.

For starters, why get your panties in a wad before actually seeing the final product? It's not rocket surgery. And you'll be very hard pressed to notice any minor variations in color when the wheels are so far apart with a sea of contrasting color between them.

And as far as paint vs. powder coat - they're both paint. It's just that one is sprayed on wet and the other dry. You can spray paint flat as glass if you know what you're doing.

Don't sweat it - just wait to see how it works out. Stuff happens. Don't be a D and start demanding this and that.

Some of you guys are crazy and talking like spoiled 16 year olds. It sounds like the dealer is trying to do the right thing (shockingly) and some of the advice given here is to squeeze every drop out of the dealer.

OP, I would be firm and up-front with the dealer that you want them to ensure the painted wheel matches the others. Perhaps they can buff/shine the other wheels as well to make it match better. But let them live up to their word. If they cannot deliver, then roast them. But don't be an a$$ when the dealer has already admitted fault and is attempting to remedy the situation. $hit happens.

you'd really only need one extra wheel done to ensure a perfect match, since no one can see both sides of the car at the same time

Anyway, I'd say wait and see, or ask him how much to throw in the rear wheel on the same side.

if that doesn't work, tell them they owe you an even trade on an M3 for your suffering.
