Outside Temperature displaying wrong C.

Hi guys,
I got an error today when starting the car, it said "Out side Temperature -40c" on the idrive & gave me some yellow symbol on the speedo. The outside temperate was not -40 & was around 26C. Cause of this my ac refuses to cool the car as i guess it thinks its very cold outside. Any idea what could be the problem? i m attaching a pic.
Thanks.

Yup, sounds like a dead temp sensor. On the e46, it was in front of the front left wheel, attached to the bumper underbody panel. I haven't looked to see if that is where it is on the e90, but that would be the first place I would look.

I don't think it will have much impact on the car if at all. It could be either a faulty sensor or a bad connection. In my older E46 it was the connection, as somehow wires rusted out. If you can find it, just fix or replace wire connections and check. Make sure you soldier it cleanly as otherwise problem will come back again if wires was your issue.
