Eisenmann Race

After various issues with the car repair the dealer said as a courtesy they will install my new Eisenmann Race exhaust and remove the Supersprint. First, they said I needed to buy the OEM sleeve, which I did. Second, they said they would need to cut a portion of the Eisenmann to make it fit so I said ok if that is what you need to do. Third, I picked up the car and the exhaust is sticking out like a sore thumb by about an inch. They disagreed and I told them I would take it home for the weekend and decide. What do you guys think? Shouldn't I have them tuck it in by an inch (cutting OEM pipe only)?

You should bring it over to C&C and compare them to John's car tomorrow.

I want to but I have a breakfast meeting in Hollywood at 8 am tomorrow. Although I can go to C&C for an hour and then leave by 7:15am hahaha. On second thought I shouldn't. I must be professional. 😏

That looks about the same as mine does. When I first had mine installed, I thought the same thing. It looked to me like it was sticking out too far. Then after a couple weeks it looked normal. I recommend giving it some time. I think it looks badass. Like two cannons on each side.

Take pics from above and side with it cold first thing in the morning. Then take the same pics hot after a drive.

I think the amount of tip showing is a matter of personal preference. Some like them to poke out and others (myself included) like them flush like OEM.

They do stick out more when hot. Then recess when cold.

Ok I've made up my mind. I'll see the rest of the M5Army tomorrow at C&C even if I'm there for only an hour. I'll also take cold and hot pix

Sounds like these guys don't know what they are doing. Take it to EAS.

I did the exact same swap as you (Supersprint to e-race), and there was no cutting at all. I stood there with them and decided how far the tips stick out. It's super simple to just slide the muffler over the center pipe and clamp wherever you like it best.

Hard to tell from pics, but it looks like it's sticking out too far to me too.

Regardless of the mounting, what do you think of the sound?

Agreed. Been through multiple exhaust swaps on the F10. Very easy. You should NOT cut the Eisenmann. I would be extremely upset. You also should be able to get a nice flush fit and use the Eisenmann clamps with no extra expense for OEM sleeve clamps. They are clueless about the hangar adjustment and the center bar between the left and right that you need to adjust. You are being "taken" by someone who probably doesn't even know they are taking you. You want those flush since when they heat up they extend a good 1/2" or more and stick out. This not only prevents you from burning yourself on the tips but also as far as yours are sticking out now they will cosmetically be a negative. Get over to a good Andy or muffler shop ASAP and cut your losses. I think the huge cannons sticking out of the rear really take away the classy appeal of the F10. That is subjective though. Get the bs sorted out and get them set the way you like. Hopefully their cutting of the arisen,Ann does not prevent you form getting a good fit. Btw...if you have to go home with something to see if it will grow on you then it is not ok. You should love an upgrade. If not then it needs corrected or discarded. Why spend money otherwise? You will always look at it and be unhappy and /or unsure deep down each time you we it.

I'm trying to understand why they would cut the Eisenmann. It slips over the oem pipe.

They said it was clamped down so it had the size of the OEM pipe. In hindsight they should have tried to open the Eisenmann pipe since it was obviously cut at the end to allow for expansion. Hmmm. This wasn't a "chop shop" (I think) because it was actually at the BMW dealership.

I just had my Eisenmann race installed yesterday by active Autowerke and they did a fantastic job, mine look just like yours; exactly like yours

I am waiting for a detail to take pics and write a full review to post tomorrow

i don't trust dealerships to do anything other than routine maintenance. and that is not always a sure thing either. they will overfill your oil for instance. anyhoo, it will def stick out more after you drive it. whether you keep it that way is your choice. careful when walking to your trunk after a drive tho. those tips will burn your shins. ask me how I know.

I guess it's not as bad as I originally thought. My first pictures are when they are hot and as others have posted "expand" 1/2" or more. Here are pictures of when the exhaust is cold and "recessed".

You are right Nerwyll. I should have just declined the dealer's offer and went to you on Monday, as was originally contemplated. Had I done that, I wouldn't have had to cut the exhausts nor have purchased the OEM sleeves. Although I'm sure I would have had to buy them anyway when I put back the stocks. See you guys for my next mod!
