SoCal window tint recommendations?

Hey everyone,

Does anybody have any good recommendations for window tinting in Los Angeles or OC area? Looking to get something above the basic tinted film that I've gotten on my past few cars. Some sort of ceramic/ir/heat reducing tint would be nice.

Hello. I recommend two shops:

1) Song's Tint Master (STM Inc)
2464 W Washington Blvd
Los Angeles, CA 90018
Tel: (323) 732-3760

They carry Huper Optik. Ceramic films. Awesome heat rejection (60 something % rejection). They have demo kit that shows how much heat is rejected compared to other brands. $500 for 5 windows. Awesome stuff.

2) Find It All
505 S Vermont Ave
Los Angeles, CA 90020
Tel: (213) 487-7788

They carry Suntek. Their top of the line film is CXP which is carbon film I think. 40-50 % heat rejection, if i remembered correctly. Around $300 for 5 windows.

I got tints from both places. Got Huper Optik for my mom's car and I got Suntek CXP on mine (lightest color, 80% visibility. Still has 40 something % heat rejection). Has hint of very light blue - but I saw that darker tints gets brown tone). Looks awesome on my mineral white. They are both awesome.

They both have great reviews and known to redo the tints if u see bubbles or other problems. Discuss with them beforehand tho.

Happy shopping!

Go to Extreme Autowerks in Cerritos. They carry Formula One Pinnacle which is the best ceramic tint in its price range. Huper is great but the thickness makes install on the dot matrix tough.

Had both of my cars done at this place. Awesome people and they offer 3M tint. Ask for Marian and tell him that Tim sent you.

BUMP!!

Figured I'd bump this thread instead of making a new one even though it's over 3 years old. So looking to get the front windows on my F30 tinted mostly for heat rejection. Being that it's Saphire Metalic Black I'm going to need it come summer. Any updated recommendations on tint shops in the LA area especially in the valley or north (I live in Santa Clarita).

I recommend Sunshield Glass Tint in Sherman Oaks. I got the 3M Crystalline 70% front windshield & the rest 40% all around in my BSM. Best heat rejection IMO and a piece of mind to protect any fading on my coral red interior. Hamid & the crew did wonderful job and the price for that tint was very reasonable (under $700) Go check them out.

I just had my 340i tinted at Sunshield a week ago. This was the third car I brought to Sunshield. Seems like the quality control had been decreased since the first time I tried them, which was about 3 years ago. My windows has some minor scuff marks, and super super tiny bubbles here and there. I'm being super OCD though. And I also found minor scratch marks on my passenger side door, which can be easily buffed-out.

The good thing about Sunshield is that they're willing to make it right once you do business with them. I just don't have the time right now to take my car back to the shop. I would still recommend them.

Do you ever get hassled? I'm in Santa Monica and picking up my used 335i from another State that has mostly likely 35% all around. Can't decide if I should just remove now or not.

No I haven't got hassled yet, as long you don't drive like an a** hole, you should be fine. Most tint shops in socal recommend 35% to be the darkest for the front windows as long the cops are able to still see you, you should be fine. Plus i believe most tint will help protect yourself and the interior from the u.v rays.

How does the dot matrix look on the rear side windows and rear window? Do you mind posting some close-ups? Thanks!

A-1 Tint in Norco, California. I have had my car's windows tinted there for over 20 years (8 cars). My wife is allergic to sun and they do a great job. In fact, they have a ceramic material for the front windshield that will block out at least 80% of the UV rays without making the windshield look tinted. Their LIFETIME warranty is super; I had the rear window on my 2004 Corvette re-done after 9 years, no problem. Good luck
