What did you get dealer to do for free before warranty ended?

Mine is up as soon as I drive another 1500 miles. Got an apt scheduled in a few weeks to have them look at the fuel/intake system. One last free oil change too. Getting rough idle on cold starts and noticing less power and gas mileage. SA said he should be able to do the walnut blasting under warranty and would look at everything else too (gaskets, injectors, plugs etc).

Anyone had luck getting them to do any maintenance items a little early, such as brakes? Or anything you've thought to try to get them to replace even if its not "completely broken" yet?

Any ideas or success stories welcome. I'm not too worried about being out of warranty, though I will likely get something to cover the powertrain because that is serious $$$ to fix later on.

Thanks.

install their license plate frame on your car everytime you go in for service.

Long Beach BMW replaced my engine head for free when my car was 6 month out of warranty. had a loaner too(328i) for more than a week.

they also fixed "hard brake pedal" issue when I was out of warranty for free.

rate them all 10 or excellent when asked for review.

Oil change, air filter, cabin filter, spark plugs I believe is what they did on my last service with 4 years and about 45,000 km on the car.

i contemplated paying for an inspection before the warranty ran out, so that if they found anything they would fix it under warranty. in the end i didnt. all i got them to do was the stuff that needed to be done (pads and brake fluid).. no freebies.

I did this, I went to an indy shop, sure enough they found 2 oil leaks that BMW somehow missed when i had my oil changed a month prior...

So in the end 70-80 bucks for a inspection, paid off in my opinion.

Good luck OP!

This! If it's not under their spec they will not replace. I rolled mine in at 49,000 and change and all I got was plugs and filters. I asked about the intake blasting and got a resounding no even though I was buying out of the lease(was a company vehicle decided to keep it). Good luck, and a PPI is always a good thing if your not mechanically inclined.

My CPO warranty and extended maintenance are up in December, so I'm also interested in this. Strongly considering an Indy inspection in case the dealership "misses" something.

I had walnut blasting done under CPO 2 months ago. I would escalate to bmwna if they don't want to do it and you are experiencing symptoms of dirty intake valves (rough idle, engine cutting out under load). My dealership said they had to escalate to a regional field engineer to get approval. They also had to replace spark plugs, coils, and injectors to rule out those as the cause. Good luck

I have 14k kms left before oil change, but warranty is done in about 1600kms (or end of this month) - will they do an oil change even though it doesn't call for one?

Two turbos. Picked the car up 3 days after the warranty had expired. :-)

So what symptoms are needed in order to get the turbos replaced? Any chance of getting it done under CPO?
